MINNEAPOLIS CITY SOCCER CLUB OFFERS A RANGE OF SOCCER TEAMS, SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR MINNESOTA PLAYERS, OFFERING THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY AT A HIGH LEVEL, AND IMPROVE FOR COLLEGIATE OPPORTUNITIES AND BEYOND. SOME PLAYERS AFFILIATED WITH THE CLUB RECEIVE FEE EXEMPTIONS BASED ON NEED TO CONTINUE THEIR TRAINING TO EARN OR KEEP COLLEGE PLAYING OPPORTUNITES AND/OR SCHOLARSHIP MONEY WHILE MAINTAINING AMATEUR STATUS WITHIN THE RULES OF THE NCAA. ALL PLAYERS ARE ASKED TO PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE AS PART OF THEIR TENURE WITH MINNEAPOLIS CITY. USUALLY THIS CONSISTS OF PROVIDING CLINICS AND TRAINING TO LOCAL YOUTH SOCCER PLAYERS; INVOLVING NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH IN PLAYING, MENTORSHIP, AND INVITATIONS TO GAMES; ADMINISTERING FREE FUTSAL LEAGUES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN; AND PUTTING ON AND STAFFING YOUTH SOCCER CAMPS. HOWEVER, COMMUNITY SERVICE HAS ALSO INCLUDED THINGS AS DISPARATE AS FOOD BANK COLLECTION AND DISASTER RELIEF.
THE TEAM PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS AND STIPENDS, ALONG WITH TRAVEL AND MEALS TO PLAYERS.
