RESTORE, MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE THE FARMHOUSE, GROUNDS AND OTHER FACILITIES AT LACHAT TOWN FARM, A MUNICIPAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF WESTON, CT. THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS PROGRAMS THAT FACILITATE EDUCATION AND ENJOYMENT OF THE LACHAT TOWN FARM BY THE COMMUNITIES OF WESTON, CT AND SURROUNDING TOWNS.

Part 3 - Line 4a

OFFUTT EDUCATION CENTER : THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN CONSTRUCTION OF THE OFFUTT EDUCATION CENTER. THE NEW CENTER REPLACES THE FORMER GARAGE AND ENABLES YEAR ROUND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING THE ADDITION OF A DEMONSTRATION KITCHEN AND ART STUDIO FOR CLASSES. CONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTER IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 2023.


LITTLE FARMHANDS YOUTH PROGRAM: THE LITTLE FARMHANDS YOUTH PROGRAM RAN FOR THE SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL OF 2022. EACH SEASON AND EACH WEEK HAD DIFFERENT THEMES FOR THE CHILDREN TO LEARN MORE ABOUT NATURE, FARMING AND CREATIVE ARTS AND CRAFTS. OVER 300 CHILDREN PARTICIPATED IN THIS YEAR'S PROGRAM.


CLASSES AND OTHER EVENTS: THE ORGANIZATION OFFERED A VARIETY OF OVER 20 CLASSES AND OTHER EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE CLASSES INCLUDED BACKYARD CHICKENS, BEEKEEPING,INTRODUCTION TO VEGETABLE GARDENING, PAINTING, TAI CHI, YOGA, AND VINTAGE VALENTINES AND MEDITATION. CERTAIN EVENTS FOCUSED ON EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICE THEMES, INCLUDING MLK DAY, WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE TEA AND EARTH DAY. ADDITIONAL EVENTS PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES TO ENJOY LACHAT TOWN FARM, INCLUDING A SPRING EGG HUNT, CANDY CANE EVENT AND HALLOWEEN EVENT. EACH CLASS ATTRACTED APPROXIMATELY 20 PERSONS, WHILE THE OTHER EVENTS ATTRACTED APPROXIMATELY 200 TO 400 COMMUNITY MEMBERS EACH.
