THE GIVING PLATE, INC. (TGP) OPERATES AS A 501C3, CHARITABLE FOOD PANTRY THAT PROVIDES EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES RESIDING IN CENTRAL OREGON AND NORTH LAKE COUNTY. TGP SERVES ANYBODY IN NEED OF FOOD, BUT HAS A SPECIAL FOCUS ON CHILDHOOD HUNGER WITH 59% OF INDIVIDUALS SERVED ORGANIZATION WIDE BEING 18 AND UNDER. TGP IS OPEN YEAR ROUND ON EVERY THURSDAY, FRIDAY, AND SATURDAY AND REMAINS THE LARGEST FOOD PANTRY IN CENTRAL OREGON SERVING THE TRI-COUNTIES OF DESCHUTES, JEFFERSON, AND CROOK. IN 2020, TGP STARTED ITS FIRST PILOT PROGRAM FOR KID'S KORNER IN NORTH LAKE COUNTY CALLED NORTH LAKE COUNTY KID'S KORNER. TGP'S FOUR HUNGER-RELIEF PROGRAMS ARE: MONTHLY FOOD BOXES, KID'S KORNER, BACKPACKS FOR BEND, AND NORTH LAKE COUNTY KID'S KORNER. IN 2020, TGP MADE THE FOLLOWING IMPACT ON HUNGER: 10,061 FAMILIES WERE GIVEN OVER 823,700 POUNDS OF FOOD IN THE MONTHLY FOOD BOX PROGRAM; 1,336 FAMILIES RECEIVED THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS TURKEYS AND SIDES IN ADDITION TO THEIR FOOD BOXES; 13,565 CHILDREN UNDER 18 RECEIVED SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD SUPPORT THROUGH OUR KID'S KORNER FOOD PANTRY; 498 CHILDREN UNDER 18 RECEIVED SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD SUPPORT THROUGH OUR NORTH LAKE COUNTY KID'S KORNER; AND 5,243 WEEKEND BAGS OF FOOD WERE PROVIDED TO 460 CHILDREN IN 33 BEND/LA PINE SCHOOLS.
