TO HOLD ANNUAL AREA AND STATEWIDE MEETINGS FOR DISTRICT SUPERVISORS, DISTRICT STAFF, FEDERAL & STATE AGENCY EMPLOYEES AND OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS. AND TO HOLD ENVIROTHON CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ART & WRITING CONTEST FOR STUDENTS FROM 1 - 12 GRADES, AND PROVIDE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS.

PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN HIRING LOCAL SOIL CONSERVATION TECHNICIANS TO BE HIRED AS EMPLOYEES OF LOCAL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS. INDIVIDUALS ASSIST LOCAL LANDOWNERS WITH IMPLIMENTING SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION PRACTICE ON THEIR LAND. 75% OF SALARY PROVIDED BY A PASS-THROUGH GRANT FROM USDA NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE AND THE LOCAL CONSERVATION DISTRICT PROVIDES 25% OF SALARY AND BENEFITS.
HOLDS ONE STATEWIDE ANNUAL MEETING AND NINE AREA MEETINGS EACH YEAR FOR TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONSERVATION DISTRICT SUPERVISORS, DISTRICT STAFF, FEDERAL & STATE AGENCY EMPLOYEES AND OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS. PROVIDE INFORMATION ON FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND PRIVATE CONSERVATION PROGRAMS. INFORMATION ON STATE LAWS GOVERNING CONSERVATION DISTRICTS AND THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF DISTRICT SUPERVISORS.
HOLD STATE ENVIROTHON CONTEST FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN LEARNING ABOUT SOILS, WATER, FORESTRY, WILDLIFE AND A CURRENT EVENT IN A TEAM COMPETITION. DEVELOP A STATEWIDE WRITING & ART CONTEST FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 1 -12 ON TOPICS RELATED TO SOILS, WATER, FORESTRY, AND WILDLIFE. PROVIDE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDENTS ATTENDING COLLEGE IN THE AREAS OF AGRICULTURE OR NATURAL RESOURCES RELATED FIELDS OF STUDY.
