BEAT THE STREETS PHILADELPHIA (BTSP)IS A SPORTS-BASED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT NONPROFIT THAT IS COMMITTED TO FOSTERING THE HOLISTIC GROWTH OF STUDENT-ATHLETES LIVING IN AT-RISK UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES. BTSP IMPLEMENTS MENTORING, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, AND WRESTLING PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA REGION AS VEHICLES TO 'POSITIVELY ALTER LIFE'S TRAJECTORY'

BTSP APPLIES EVIDENCE-BASED, INNOVATIVE STATEGIES TO ENGAGE YOUTH IN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, INCREASING SOFT SKILLS, AND CREATING A SENSE OF SELF DETERMINATION, SELF CONFIDENCE, AND CONNECTION WITH TEAMMATES AND THEIR COMMUNITY. AT THE CORE, THIS COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM HINGES ON ESTABLISHING TRUST BETWEEN THE YOUTH ENROLLED AND THEIR COACHES AND MENTORS. THE CENTERPIECE OF THE PROGRAM IS THE SPECIALIZED AFTER SCHOOL WRESTLING AND HEALTH AND WELLNESS OPPORTUNITIES DELIVERED BY BTSP. WE BELIEVE THAT THE SPORT OF WRESTLING, COMBINED WITH STRUCTURED MENTORING, CREATES AN ENVIROMENT WHERE OUR YOUTH LEARN INVALUABLE SKILLS APPLICABLE IN THE CLASSROOM, RELATIONSHIPS, AND FUTURE CAREERS. OUR WRESTLING PROGRAM INSTILLS THE DISCIPLINE, FOCUS, SELF ESTEEM, HARD WORK AND RESPECT VITAL TO OVERCOMING STUDENTS' CHALLENGES OFF THE MAT. MEANWHILE, OUR SUPPLEMENTAL ACADEMIC MENTORING SUPPORT PROVIDES THE CRITICAL PIECE TO ENSURING OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES TRANSITION CHARACTER TRAITS LEARNED ON THE MAT INTO THE CLASSROOM AND LIFE.
