EDUCATIONAL PORTRAYALS OF MOUNTED ARTILLERY UNITS IN USE FROM 1840 THROUGH 1918. C.H.A.S. PROVIDES THREE HORSE DRAWN ARTILLERY TEAMS, (EACH TEAM COMPRISED OF 6 HORSES, A CANNON, A LIMBER, 3 DRIVERS AND 6 CANNONEERS) TO DEMONSTRATE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE MOUNTED ARTILLERY TEAMS IN USE FROM 1840 THROUGH 1918.THE FOCUS IS CIVIL WAR BATTLE TACTICS AND UNIFORM DEMONSTRATED DURING CIVIL WAR REENACTMENTS WHICH ARE HELD IN CALIFORNIA AND ON THE EAST COAST. AN AUTHENTIC CIVIL WAR CAMP SITE IS ESTABLISHED TO SHOW LIVING HISTORY SCENARIOS OF THE CIVIL WAR SOLDIER'S DAILY LIFE.EXHIBITS, DEMONSTRATIONS AND LIVING HISTORY PRESENTATIONS OF THE CIVIL WAR ARTILLERY METHODS AND EQUIPMENT ARE PROVIDED FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION. IN ADDITION, THE TEAM DOES DEMONSTRATIONS FOR CIVIC HISTORIC DAYS AT THE CALIFORNIA STATE CAPITOL AND IN VARIOUS CITIES THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA. C.H.A.S. HAS PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS AT SCHOOL SITES, WITH PRESENTERS WHO TEACH THE STUDENTS ABOUT CIVIL WAR HISTORY. A NEWSLETTER IS PUBLISHED TO INFORM MEMBERS OF THE UPCOMING SCHEDULE AND TO GIVE HISTORICAL INFORMATION FOR AUTHENTIC LIVING HISTORY IMPRESSIONS. THE WEB SITE, WWW.WARHORSE.ORG, PROVIDES A PUBLIC LINK TO OUR ORGANIZATION. THE NUMBER OF PUBLIC SPECTATORS AND SCHOOL CHILDREN VIEWING THE LIVING HISTORY DEMONSTRATIONS APPROXIMATES 150,000 ANNUALLY. HORSE RESCUE OPERATION PROVIDES A HOME, FOOD, VET CARE AND WORK FOR HORSES WHO WOULD OTHERWISE BE DESTROYED AFTER THEY ARE TOO OLD TO SERVICE AS HARNESS RACING HORSES.TO DATE, OVER SIXTY HORSES HAVE BEEN RESCUED.
