BETTERMENT OF THE COMMUNITY THROUGH EDUCATION, CULTURAL, SOCIAL, ATHLETIC OR OTHER PROGRAMS OFFERED TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY, WHICH ROUGHLY CORRESPONDS TO THE BOUNDARIES OF THE LOMA PRIETA JOINT UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT.

LPCF OPERATES THE BUILDING BLOCKS PARENT CO-OP PRESCHOOL. THIS PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR MOUNTAIN TODDLERS AND THEIR PARENTS. 45 KIDS WERE ENROLLED THIS YEAR.
THE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS VARIOUS PROJECTS THAT HELP AND IMPROVE THE LOMA PRIETA COMMUNITY. THIS INCLUDES IMPROVEMENTS TO THE FACILITIES, PLAYGROUNDS AND ATHLETIC FIELDS THAT ARE USED BY BOTH THE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. IT ASSISTS LOCAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE EFFORTS BY PROVIDING SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT. THE ORGANIZATION WORKS WITH THE LOS GATOS-SARATOGA RECREATION AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO SEE THAT RECREATION PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED TO THE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY WHICH THIS YEAR SERVED MORE THAN 400 PARTICIPANTS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. THE FOUNDATION SPONSORED THE MOUNTAIN RESIDENTS' NIGHT OUT, WHICH BROUGHT OVER 300 COMMUNITY MEMBERS TOGETHER WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES.
THEATRE IN THE MOUNTAINS PROVIDES A PLACE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO ENJOY PLAYS AND THEATER EVENTS IN THE LOMA PRIETA COMMUNITY CENTER. THE THEATER PROGRAM IS EXTENDED TO STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. THIS YEAR THERE WERE THREE SCHOOL BASED PRODUCTIONS ALONG WITH A SUMMER ADULT PROGRAM AND A CHILDREN'S THEATER CAMP. 130 KIDS PARTICIPATED ALONG WITH ABOUT 280 PARENT AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS. THIS YEAR'S AUDIENCE TOTALED 2200.
