THE PURPOSE IS FOR WOMEN OF LIKE MIND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR FAMILIES IN NEED OF BASICS SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHES, MISCELLANEOUS HOME ITEMS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND OTHER HELP DETERMINED TO BE APPROPRIATE.

HOUSTON CHAPTER:OUTREACH PROGRAMS: CHRISTMAS TOYS, CLOTHING AND FOOD), THANKSGIVING(PROVIDED GROCERY GIFT CARDS TO 32 FAMILIES), CHRISTMAS IN JULY (BACK-TO-SCHOOL CLOTHING, SCHOOL SUPPLIES & EDUCATIONAL FIELDTRIP EVENT FOR 117 CHILDREN), EMERGENCY RESOURCE COMMITTEE, EASTER COMMITTEE (PROVIDED BOOKS, FOOD, AND BASKETS FOR 32 FAMILIES/117CHILDREN), FAMILY SELECTION COMMITTEE, MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE, PUBLICITY/TECHNOLOGY, READ COMMITTEE, FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE, HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER STEERING COMMITTEE, SENIOR CARE (FOOD AND SUPPLY BASKETS), R.E.A.D. (READ TO EMPOWER, ACHIEVE & DISCOVER) IS OUR SIGNATURE LITERACY INITIATIVE. IN THE PAST YEAR WE CREATED AN IN-PERSON LEARNING EXPERIENCE & DONATED 2,401 BOOKS TO 666 CHILDREN AND 100 BOOKS TO ADULTS. WE HAVE ESTABLISHED AN ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP IN THE NAME OF FOUNDING MEMBER VALRA ANN JOHNSON FOR EDUCATION MAJORS AT TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AND AWARDED $2,500 IN 2022.


WASHINGTON DC METRO AREA CHAPTER: HOSTED 2 FUNDRAISING PARTIES. THE AUGUST PARTY PROCEEDS WERE DISTRIBUTED FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOPPING FOR UNIFORMS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES. THE DECEMBER PARTY PROCEEDS SUPPORTED THE SAME CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FOR CHRISTMAS TOYS, GIFTS, & COATS.


OAKLAND CHAPTER: HOSTED A HOLIDAY FUNDRAISING PARTY AND PROVIDED HOLIDAY GIFTS ($250+) FOR 100 CHILDREN AND FOOD GIFT CARDS ($100+) FOR 64 FAMILIES.
