THE HOFHEINZ FUND IS A TEXAS CHARITABLE TRUST ESTABLISHED IN 1983 BY A BEQUEST FROM THE ROY M. HOFHEINZ CHARITABLE FOUNDATION OF HOUSTON, TEXAS. SINCE ITS FOUNDING, THE FUND HAS DEVOTED ITSELF TO A BROAD RANGE OF SCIENTIFIC, EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE VENTURES, INCLUDING GRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS HOUSTON GRAND OPERA ASSOCIATION, ACCESS HOUSTON, THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON, PALM SPRINGS CULTURAL CENTER AND OTHER PUBLIC CHARITIES. AFTER 1989 THE PRESENT LEADERSHIP OF THE FUND LED IT INTO DIRECT ACTIVITIES AS A PRIVATE OPERATING FOUNDATION. FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES, IN ADDITION TO OTHER CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES, THE FUND HAS OPERATED AS INDEPENDENT SUPPORT FOR SEVERAL OTHER OPERATING CHARITIES, NOTABLY THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AUXILIARY CIVIL AIR PATROL, AN ORGANIZATION SIMILARLY ORGANIZED UNDER INTERNAL REVENUE CODE SECTION 501(C) (3). THIS SUPPORT TAKES THE FORM OF PROVIDING THE USE OF EQUIPMENT, CONSULTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING SERVICES, WHICH ARE DONATED WITHOUT CHARGE. FOR EXAMPLE
