THE ERIK PROFFITT #19 MEMORIAL SOCCER FUND (THE "FUND") WAS ESTABLISHED TO RAISE MONEY IN SUPPORT OF THE ERIK PROFFITT #19 SOCCER COMPLEX AND TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF A YOUNG MAN WIDELY RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE BEST SOCCER PLAYERS IN THE HISTORY OF USD 259 HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER. IN ADDITION TO SUPPORTING THE SOCCER COMPLEX AT NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL, THE FUND ALSO RECOGNIZES ANNUALLY, PLAYERS FROM THE NORTHWEST SOCCER TEAMS BY AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION BASED ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. RECIPIENTS ARE ANNOUNCED IN APRIL AND INTRODUCED AT THE ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT.EACH YEAR, THE FUND HAS A GOLF TOURNAMENT TO RAISE MONEY IN SUPPORT OF MAKING IMPROVEMENTS TO ERIK'S COMPLEX AND THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. PROCEEDS FROM THE PROGRAM HAVE PAID FOR A CONCESSION STAND/RESTROOM, FIELD LIGHTING, SCOREBOARDS, LED DISPLAY BOARD, PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM, SPRINKLER SYSTEM, FENCING, COVERED PLAYER BENCHES AND MUCH MORE. TO DATE OVER $325,000 OF IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITHOUT THE USE OF TAXPAYER MONEY.
