LOCAL INNOVATION. THIS KEY ENDEAVOR HELPS CITIES PLAN, BUILD AND PROMOTE GREAT PLACES TO RIDE, FASTER. THESE PROGRAMS DEVELOP STRONG COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, ACCELERATING PROGRESS AND CREATING BEST PRACTICES THAT CAN BE SHARED WIDELY. PROGRAM FOCUSES INCLUDE THE FINAL MILE PROJECT, WHICH WORKS TO ACCELERATE THE INSTALLATION OF COMPLETE MOBILITY NETWORKS IN SELECT U.S. CITIES, AND THE PLACESFORBIKES CITY RATINGS PROGRAM, WHICH ESTABLISHES A NEW STANDARD IN DEFINING AND MEASURING GREAT PLACES FOR BIKING, ALONGSIDE PROVIDING THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES NECESSARY TO ACCELERATE LOCAL CHANGE. IN ADDITION, LOCAL INNOVATION EFFORTS INCLUDE THE NORTHWEST ARKANSAS BIKE BUSINESS INNOVATION PROGRAM, WHICH IMPLEMENTS WORKPLACE-BASED INCENTIVE PROGRAMS THAT RAPIDLY INCREASE THE NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES WHO BIKE FOR TRANSPORTATION AND RECREATION THROUGHOUT BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS
COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT. OUR COMMUNICATION EFFORTS SUPPORT ALL PROGRAMS UNDER THE PEOPLEFORBIKES FOUNDATION. ONE OF OUR MAIN PILLARS IS ENSURING BIKES ARE PRIORITIZED AND POSITIONED AS A REAL SOLUTION TO IMPROVE AMERICANS' HEALTH, CONNECT COMMUNITIES, BOOST LOCAL AND STATE ECONOMIES, STRENGTHEN OUR NATION AND PROTECT THE PLANET. WE ALSO SEEK TO GROW BICYCLE RIDERSHIP IN AMERICA THROUGH VARIOUS OUTREACH CAMPAIGNS TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN A DIVERSE BASE OF NEW AND INFREQUENT RIDERS. IN 2018, THE PEOPLEFORBIKES FOUNDATION LAUNCHED A TECHNOLOGY-BASED PLATFORM AND MOBILE APP CALLED RIDE SPOT, DESIGNED TO HELP BIKE RIDERS EVERYWHERE DISCOVER AND SHARE GREAT BIKE RIDES IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL BIKE SHOPS, ADVOCACY GROUPS AND OTHER RIDERS.
BETTER BIKE SHARE PARTNERSHIP. FUNDED BY THE JPB FOUNDATION TO BUILD EQUITABLE AND REPLICABLE SHARED MICROMOBILITY SYSTEMS, THE GOAL OF THE BETTER BIKE SHARE PARTNERSHIP IS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO AND THE USE OF THESE SYSTEMS IN LOW-INCOME AND BIPOC COMMUNITIES. THE PARTNERS INCLUDE THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CITY TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS (NACTO) AND THE PEOPLEFORBIKES FOUNDATION. INITIALLY FUNDED IN 2014 FOR A THREE-YEAR PERIOD, THE JPB FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE PROGRAM, MOST RECENTLY IN 2020 FOR AN ADDITIONAL THREE YEARS (THROUGH JUNE 30, 2023).
