THE SOUTHERN DOCUMENTARY FUND (SDF) CULTIVATES DOCUMENTARY PROJECTS MADE IN OR ABOUT THE AMERICAN SOUTH. INSPIRED BY OUR CORE BELIEF THAT DOCUMENTARIES HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE LIVES, WE SERVE AS A LEADING ADVOCATE OF POWERFUL STORYTELLING, PROVIDING FILMMAKERS AND ARTISTS WITH PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT, FISCAL SPONSORSHIP, AND CREATIVE COMMUNITY.

SDF PROVIDES FISCAL SPONSORSHIP FOR DOCUMENTARY PROJECTS. SDF SERVED 80 FILMMAKER PROJECTS. SDF MARSHALS' RESOURCES THROUGH GRANTS, INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS, AND CROWD FUNDING, SPONSORED PROJECTS RECEIVE VALUABLE BENEFITS INCLUDING CONSULTATIONS WITH LEGAL, DISTRIBUTION, AND OUTREACH PROFESSIONALS. SDF'S CURRENT SPONSORSHIP RATE IS 6%.


THE SDF MENTORSHIP PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PAIR ESTABLISHED FILMMAKERS AND INDUSTRY EXPERTS WITH EMERGING AND NEW FILMMAKERS. WE PROVIDE SUPPORT, WHICH INCLUDES MONTHLY MENTORSHIP MEETINGS WITH FILMMAKERS WHO HAVE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY.
