THE JCPENNEY FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED ON OCTOBER 15, 2001 TO PROVIDE CHILDREN WITH HIGH QUALITY, AFFORDABLE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS TO HELP THEM REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. THROUGH COLLABORATION, FUNDING, AND VOLUNTEER SUPPORT, THE FOUNDATION WORKED WITH NATIONAL PROVIDERS OF AFTER-SCHOOL CARE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE NEED FOR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND TO MAINTAIN AND INCREASE THE NUMBER OF PROGRAMS AVAILABLE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE CHILDREN POWER THEIR POTENTIAL.THE JCPENNEY FOUNDATION IS CURRENTLY ORGANIZED AND OPERATED TO CELEBRATE AND SERVE AMERICA'S DIVERSE, WORKING FAMILIES TODAY BY OFFERING ACCESS TO SKILL-BUILDING AND RESOURCED THAT ALLOW EVERYONE TO THRIVE. TO MEET THIS GOAL, THE FOUNDATION INVESTS IN LEADING NONPROFITS MAKING STRIDES IN THREE CRITICAL AREAS: JOB READINESS, HEALTH & WELL BEING AND INCLUSIVE ACCESS TO EDUCATION.
