THE FAMILY ASSISTANCE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS (RMHD) BY OWNING THE HOME USED BY RMHD AND MAINTAINING AN ASSISTANCE FUND FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS OF SUCH HOME.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS FAMILY ASSISTANCE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS (RMHD) BY OWNING THE RMHD HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME FOR SERIOUSLY ILL OR INJURED CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE HOUSE HAS 77 GUEST BEDROOMS, 6 LONG-TERM STAY SUITES, AND 6 TRANSPLANT APARTMENTS. THE TRANSPLANT APARTMENTS ARE USED FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE RECEIVED BONE MARROW, STEM CELL, OR ORGAN TRANSPLANTS WHO, POST TRANSPLANT, MUST REMAIN CLOSE TO THE HOSPITAL AND IN AN ISOLATED ENVIRONMENT. IN ADDITION TO THE BEDROOMS AND SUITES, THE HOUSE HAS MANY COMMON AREAS INCLUDING A LIBRARY, ARTS AND CRAFTS ROOM, PLAY ROOM, GAME ROOM, COMMUNITY ROOM, TEEN ROOM, MEDIA ROOM, CHAPEL AND MEDITATION GARDEN, SPLASH PAD AND LARGE OUTDOOR PLAY AREAS. ADDITIONALLY, THE HOUSE HAS A DAY PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO CHILDREN RECEIVING INPATIENT OR OUTPATIENT CARE AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO DO NOT NEED THE OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS OF THE HOUSE BECAUSE THEY LIVE WITHIN EASY DRIVING DISTANCE OF THE HOSPITAL, BUT STILL NEED A PLACE FOR REST AND RELAXATION. ADDITIONALLY THE FAF MAINTAINS AN ASSISTANCE FUND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE. FAMILY ASSISTANCE TO RESIDENTS OF THE RMHD WHO QUALIFY INCLUDES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FORMER PATIENTS, THEIR SIBLINGS AND PARENTS, CAB FARE TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL OR AIRPORT, AND WHEN NECESSARY, ASSISTANCE WITH FUNERAL EXPENSES. IN 2021 THE FAMILY ASSISTANCE FOUNDATION PROVIDED COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING $11,880 TO NINE FORMER PATIENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS. THE FAF ALSO PROVIDES RECREATIONAL OUTINGS AND HOTEL EXPENSES WHEN RMHD CANNOT ACCOMMODATE FAMILIES.
