PROVIDE COMMUNITY BASED CULTURAL DIVERSITY PROGRAMS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL, RECREATIONAL AND ADVISORY ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES TO PEOPLE YOUNG AND OLD TO FOSTER UNITY BENEFITING THE EMPOWERMENT OF THE INDIVIDUAL TO BETTER THE LIVES OF THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY.

THE JUNETEENTH COMMUNITY CELEBRATION FEATURES SEVERAL PROGRAMS TO BRING ENLIGHTENMENT, EMPOWERMENT, EDUCATION AND ENTERTAINMENT TO THE CITIZENS OF FORT WORTH. BECAUSE OF THE COVID PANDEMIC AND LIVE STREAMING, WE WERE ABLE TO REACH A NATIONWIDE AUDIENCE DIVERSE IN ITS MAKE UP. EVENTS INCLUDED A FULL MONTH WITH EVENTS INCLUDING THE "EMPOWERING YOU" EVENT WHICH IS OUR HEALTH FAIR, JOB FAIR, COLLEGE FAIR, AND FINANCIAL FAIR ALL ROLLED INTO ONE. BECAUSE OF COVID PRECAUTIONS WE HAD THE EVENT ONLINE VIA LIVE STREAMING SERVICE AND DISTRIBUTED ON FACEBOOK TO REACH A WIDER AUDIENCE. INCLUDED WAS CREDIT AND BUDGETING EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS, HISTORICAL SESSIONS ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SOUTHERN MIGRATION AND ESCAPE INTO MEXICO, AND THE SOCIAL IMPACT FOCUS OF THE MOTHERS OF THOSE WHOSE LIVES WERE TAKEN TOO PREMATURELY IN THE TWO-HOUR EVENT. THE ATTENDANCE OF SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE WERE NOT ONLY LOCAL ATTENDEES AND ALLOWED OUR IMPACT TO BE INCREASED. THE YOUTH FINE ARTS WORKSHOP & CONCERT ECUMENICAL SERVICE, YOUTH ART COMPETITION, MISS JUNETEENTH PAGEANT AND PROFESSIONAL PLAY PRODUCTION ARE ALL EVENTS SUPPORTED BY OUR COMMUNITY CELEBRATION PROGRAMMING. OUR NATIONAL IMPACT PROGRAM OPAL'S WALK TO DC TOUCHED SEVERAL THOUSAND INDIVIDUALS WHO VIEWED THE WALK THAT MS. OPAL LEE MADE FAMOUS WITH THE SIGNING OF THE JUNETEENTH BILL FOR THE NATIONAL HOLIDAY.
THE URBAN FARMING PROGRAM EXISTS TO PROVIDE FARM FRESH PRODUCE AND A SUSTAINABLE MODEL TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT FOR THE UNEMPLOYABLE OR UNDEREMPLOYED PROVIDING EDUCATION AND TRAINING, EMPOWERMENT AND BUILDING SELF WORTH WHILE BENEFITING A COMMUNITY PLAGUED WITH FOOD INSECURITY AND FOOD DESERTS. THE LONG TERM GOAL IS TO USE THE FARM IN THE AREA TO HELP PREVIOUSLY INCARCERATED RETURNING CITIZENS WHO HAVE WORKED IN THE TEXAS PENAL SYSTEM FARMS TO HAVE JOBS AND TRAINING BASED ON THEIR RECENT EXPERIENCE.
OUR EDUCATION SERVICE PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS ARE GEARED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT TO THOSE IN OUR COUNTRY LOOKING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT JUNETEENTH AND THE MEANING OF FREEDOM AS IT RELATES TO EMPOWERING THE INDIVIDUAL TO MAKE THE MOST OF RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO US AS AMERICANS. THIS YEAR WE INTRODUCED SEVERAL PROGRAMS - OPAL'S WALKS FOR AWARENESS AND JUNETEENTH CHILDREN'S BOOK BOTH TARGETED TO REACH A DIVERSE AUDIENCE.
OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS ARE GEARED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION, EMPOWERMENT AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO ARE DOING THE GOOD WORK OF SERVING THEIR FELLOW MAN. THIS YEAR WE PRODUCED SEVERAL PROGRAMS -COMMUNITY HONORS BANQUET HIGHLIGHTING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF UNSUNG HEROES WHO DESERVE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. OUR SECOND COMMUNITY PROGRAM IS OUR SECRET SANTA PROGRAM THAT ENCOURAGES AND IS A SUPPORT PRIMARILY TO GRANDPARENTS RAISING THEIR GRANDCHILDREN DUE TO NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN.
