THE OPTICAL WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION (OWA) HAS THE PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE TO ENHANCE AND PROMOTE THE LEADERSHIP ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE OPTICAL INDUSTRY THROUGH NETWORKING, EDUCATION AND PEER SUPPORT.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS FOR OPTICAL WOMEN PROVIDED UNIQUE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, BOTH REGIONALLY AND IN CONJUNCTION WITH MAJOR TRADE SHOWS, AND VIA ONLINE WEBINARS, FOR MEMBERS AND GUESTS TO EXPLORE TOPICS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN WORKING IN THE OPTICAL INDUSTRY, ENRICHING THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIVES. MORE THAN 900 PERSONS BENEFITTED FROM THESE WORKSHOPS DURING 2020. (COVID-19 PRECLUDED 2021 IN-PERSON EVENTS.) ADDITIONAL RESOURCES PROVIDED FOR ALL MEMBERS IN 2021 INCLUDE PROFESSIONAL ADVISORY GROUPS, QUARTERLY BUSINESS BOOK DISCUSSIONS, MONTHLY PODCASTS, AND BI-MONTHLY ONE-MINUTE INSPIRATION EBLASTS.


LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED EVERY YEAR TO EXCEPTIONAL WOMEN FOR THE PURPOSE OF FURTHER DEVELOPING AND ENHANCING THEIR LEADERSHIP SKILLS.


NETWORKING EVENTS PROVIDED A FORUM FOR THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND INFORMATION AMONG WOMEN AND MEN, MEMBERS, AND NON-MEMBERS, REPRESENTING ALL LEVELS OF THE INDUSTRY. SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN AND BENEFITTED FROM THE 2021 VIRTUAL EVENTS THAT REPLACED IN-PERSON GET-TOGETHERS.
