DIRECT CLIENT SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND AWARENESS, AND ADVOCACY: THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS AND SUPPORT SERVCIES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY AFFECTED BY ALZHEIMER'S OR A RELATED DEMENTIA. THESE INCLUDE: CASE MANAGEMENT; SUPPORT GROUPS; WORKSHOPS/SEMINARS; ANNUAL CONFERENCE; IN-SERVICE TRAINING; PHYSICIANS OUTREACH; AND ADVOCACY. RESPITE CARE: THE ORGANIZATION HELPS FAMILY MEMBERS ACTING AS CAREGIVERS TO INDIVIDUALS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE OR A RELATED DEMENTIA BY GIVING THEM REPITE, "A BREAK", FROM THEIR CAREGIVING RESPONSIBILITIES. FAMILIES MAY UTILIZE THE ALZHEIMER'S ALLIANCE'S ADULT DAY PROGRAM "WOUNDERFUL WEDNESDAYS". WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE, THE ALLIANCE IS ABLE TO OFFER OTHER FORMS OF RESPITE CARE SERVICES - IN-HOME CARE, LICENSED DAY CARE, AS WELL AS DAY OR OVERNIGHT CARE IN A RESIDENTIAL CARE COMMUNITY. TRACKING/ID SYSTEM FOR WANDERERS: THE ORGANIZATION PROMOTES AND ADMINISTERS PROJECT LIFESAVER INTERNATIONAL IN COLLABORATION WITH SMITH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND TYLER POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEN SOMEONE ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM GOES MISSING, PERSONNEL IN BOTH AGENCIES ARE TRAINED TO DO SEARCHES AND ACCESS THE LOCATION EQUIPMENT WHICH RECEIVES A RADIO SIGNAL TRANSMITTED BY A DEVICE WORN ON THE WRIST.
