TO TEACH THE HISTORY OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND TO KEEP ALIVE THE PATRIOTIC TRADITIONS OF TEXAS AND SAN ANTONIO.

Part 3 - Line 4a

TO ORGANIZE AND PRESENT A CIVIC CELEBRATION COMMEMORATING THE VICTORY AT SAN JACINTO AND THE HEROIC SPIRIT OF THE ALAMO BY SPONSORING A PARADE IN DOWNTOWN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. THIS YEAR MARKED THE 130TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE PARADE. THE PARADE HAS ENTERTAINED SAN ANTONIO EVERY YEAR SINCE 1891, EXCEPT DURING THE WORLD WARS AND IN 2020 AND 2021 WHEN FIESTA WAS CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AND THEREFORE, THE PARADE AND BAND FESTIVAL WERE CANCELLED. THIS PARADE IS THE OLDEST ONE IN THE NATION PRODUCED ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEER WOMEN.


TO PRESENT A BAND FESTIVAL INCREASING INTEREST IN MUSIC IN SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES.


ORATORICAL CONTEST FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS TO PROMOTE INTEREST IN TEXAS HISTORY. ESSAY CONTEST HELD TO ENCOURAGE AREA PUBLIC & PRIVATE SCHOOL SEVENTH GRADERS TO ENRICH THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF TEXAS HISTORY.
