TO PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES, WHILE WORKING TO END HOMELESSNESS, ONE LIFE AT A TIME. THE CATHEDRAL CENTER SERVES WOMEN AND FAMILIES WHO ARE HOMELESS OR EXPERIENCING A HOUSING CRISIS. CLIENTS SERVED PRIMARILY COME FROM THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY AREA, THOUGH SERVICES ARE EXTENDED TO THOSE FROM THE TRI-COUNTY AREA - AND EVEN SOME FROM OUT OF STATE. UNACCOMPANIED WOMEN AND FAMILIES WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN (INCLUDING TWO PARENT HOUSEHOLDS, SINGLE FATHERS AND SINGLE MOTHERS) ARE PROVIDED EMERGENCY SHELTER SERVICES, AS WELL AS CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES WHICH INCLUDE A COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT, INDEPENDENCE PLANNING, SUPPORTIVE SERVICES SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS ASSESSMENTS AND BRIEF INTERVENTION, AS WELL AS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, LINKAGES TO COMMUNITY SERVICES AND OUTREACH TO WOMEN AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCING HOUSING CRISES.

IN 2021 CATHEDRAL CENTER PROVIDED EMERGENCY 17,261 NIGHTS OF EMERGENCY SHELTER TO 240 UNACCOMPANIED WOMEN AND 298 INDIVIDUALS WITHIN 77 FAMILIES - INCLUDING 103 ADULTS AND 195 CHILDREN. AS SUCH OUR SHELTER OCCUPANCY RATE INCREASED SLIGHTLY TO 84%, EVEN DURING A TIME OF REDUCED CAPACITY DUE TO THE PERSISTENT PANDEMIC.
AN ADDITIONAL 5,805 NIGHTS OF EMERGENCY HOUSING WAS PROVIDED TO 14 WOMEN AND 75 INDIVIDUALS WITHIN 24 FAMILIES, INCLUDING 50 CHILDREN AND 25 ADULTS IN OUR FLEXIBLE HOUSING PROGRAM IN OUR SECOND LOCATION, FRIENDSHIP HOUSE. SERVICES ALSO INCLUDE CLINICAL CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, PARENTING SUPPORT, FAMILY REUNIFICATION AND GROUP SERVICES FOCUSED ON TRAUMA CARE.
CATHEDRAL CENTER'S GROWING COMMUNITY CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM UTILIZES A FLEXIBLE HOUSING MODEL, ENABLING WOMEN AND FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN TO CHOOSE THE BREADTH AND LENGTH OF SUPPORT NEEDED TO AVOID LITERAL HOMELESSNESS. IN 2021, 76 FAMILIES AND 32 WOMEN WERE SERVED. OF THIS NUMBER, ALL BUT 3 FAMILIES AND 4 WOMEN WERE ASSISTED IN AVOIDING LITERAL HOMELESSNESS AND STABILIZED THEIR HOUSING CRISES.
