WINGS HAS ACHIEVED REMARKABLE SUCCESS IN FULFILLING ITS MISSION OF PROVIDING LIFESAVING CARE TO UNINSURED WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER. THROUGH EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMMING AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, WINGS HAS BEEN ABLE TO ELIMINATE ALL FINANCIAL BARRIERS, REDUCE EMOTIONAL STRESS, AND OFFER CRITICAL HEALTHCARE, EDUCATIONAL, AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO ITS BENEFICIARIES. ONE OF THE KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS FOR THE WINGS PROGRAM IS THE NUMBER OF LIVES SAVED. WITH A FIVE-YEAR SURVIVAL RATE OF 90% AMONG PROGRAM MEMBERS, WINGS' RESULTS ARE COMPETITIVE WITH NATIONAL AVERAGES. SINCE OUR INCEPTION IN 1999, WINGS HAS PROVIDED NO-COST BREAST CANCER TREATMENT TO UNINSURED WOMEN, OFFERING A LIFELINE FOR THOSE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE LIMITED OR NO ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE. WINGS ACHIEVED POSITIVE OUTCOMES, COLLECTIVELY SERVING OVER 1,000 INDIVIDUALS IN NEED OF MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, OF THOSE 825 WOMEN WERE DIRECTLY SERVED BY THE ORGANIZATION THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. CENTRAL TO WINGS' SUCCESS IS OUR ABILITY TO MANAGE INDIVIDUAL HEALTHCARE PLANS, MEDICAL RECORDS, INSURANCE CLAIMS, PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS, AND ENGAGEMENT DETAILS THROUGH OUR DATABASE SYSTEM. THIS TECHNOLOGY ENABLES THE TEAM TO MONITOR, TRACK, PROCESS, AND SUPPORT EACH WOMAN'S HEALTHCARE NEEDS EFFECTIVELY. IN 2021 PATIENTS COLLECTIVELY RECEIVED 2,867 MEDICAL PROCEDURES/ TREATMENTS, TOTALING $825,014 IN BILLED MEDICAL CLAIMS. WINGS MEDICAL PROVIDERS/CLINICIANS PARTNERS WORK TOGETHER, NEGOTIATING DEEPLY DISCOUNTED FEES TO SUPPORT WINGS PAY FOR SERVICES RENDERED. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE NO-COST QUALITY CARE AND PARTNERS RECEIVED IN-KIND TAX CREDIT. THE PROGRAM'S FOCUS ON EARLY TREATMENT IS CRITICAL IN INCREASING THE PROBABILITY OF SURVIVAL AND REDUCING LATER-STAGE CANCERS. BY CLOSELY TRACKING THE PROGRESS OF EACH WOMAN'S TREATMENT THROUGH THE PATIENT DATABASE AND WORKING DIRECTLY WITH PATIENTS, PHYSICIANS, AND MEDICAL PROVIDERS, WINGS ENSURES PHYSICAN ORDERED INDIVIDUAL MEDICAL CARE PLANS ARE FOLLOWED AND OPTIMIZED FOR THE BEST OUTCOMES OF ERADICATING HE DISEASE AND LIFE-SAVING RESULTS.IN-KIND ASSISTANCE - $141,749


WINGS SERVED A TOTAL OF 1,000 INDIVIDUALS DURING 2021 (825 ELIGIBLE/277 NON-ELIGIBLE). EIGHT-HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE (825) WERE ELIGIBLE AND RECEIVED NO COST PATIENT NAVIGATION SERVICES, MEDICAL CARE, AND OTHER BENEFITS VIA THREE PROGRAM MODULES. THE THREE MODULES ARE: WINGS I - ACTIVE CARE PROGRAM COMPREHENSIVE BREAST HEALTH CARE PROVIDING PATIENT NAVIGATION SERVICES COORDINATE PHYSICAN CARE PLANS INCLUDING: MAMMOGRAMS, BIOPSIES, LABS, SCANS, SURGERIES, RADIATION, CHEMOTHERAPY, DOCTOR VISITS, MEDICATIONS, PROSTHETIC SUPPLIES, ETC. ON AVERAGE INDIVIDUALS SERVED UNDERGO TREATMENT 2-3 YEARS BEFORE BEING DIAGNOSED CANCER-FREE. WINGS II-CONTINUUM CARE IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT AND TRANSITION PARTICIPANTS FROM WINGS I - ACTIVE CARE WHO ARE DIAGNOSED IN REMISSION AND CANCER-FREE. PARICIPANTS IN REMISSION CONTINUE TO REQUIRE MEDICAL CARE AND TREATMENT SERVICES FOR UP TO FIVE YEARS UNLESS THE CANCER REOCCURS AND ARE THEN REENROLLED INTO WINGS I. ALL CARE IS COORDINATED BY THE WINGS TEAM INCLUDING: ANNUAL MAMMOGRAMS, BIOPSIES LABS, DOCTOR VISITS, MEDICATION, PROSTHETIC SUPPLIES, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, RESOURCES AND REFERRAL SERVICES ETC, AS WELL AS, PROCESSING AND PAYMENT OF ALL HEALTH CLAIMS/MEDICALLY RELATED EXPENSES; A FIVE-YEAR COURSE OF CARE. AFTER FIVE YEARS, INDIVIDUALS IN WINGS II ARE TRANSITIONED INTO WINGS FOR LIFE. THE WINGS FOR LIFE PROGRAMMING ALLOWS WOMEN WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY GRADUATED WNGS I AND II, STILL NOT INSURED, AND QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAM TO PARTICIPATE AND ACCESS ALL PROGRAMMING BENEFITS. WINGS PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING, HEALTH CARE, AND FAMILY RESOURCES, ALONG WITH REFERRAL SERVICES, AND MORE! WINGS ACTIVE AND CONTINUUM CARE PARTICIPANTS ALSO RECEIVE THESE SERVICES. WINGS' IMPROVES LIFE BY ELIMINATING FINANCIAL AND PERSONAL BARRIERS: IMPROVING HEALTH-LITERACY, RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT RISK-FACTORS, AND EARLY DETECTION TO REDUCE FEAR ABOUT SEEKING CARE FOR BREAST HEALTH CONCERNS. WINGS SERVED 100 PARTICIPANTS IN WINGS I-ACTIVE CARE 80 WOMEN AND 22 WOMEN IN WINGS II CONTINUUM CARE FIGHTING BREAST CANCER IN "REAL-TIME". ONLY TWO (2) PARTICIPANTS WERE DIAGNOSED IN REMISSION-CANCER-FREE AND TRANSITIONED FROM WINGS I ACTIVE CARE TO WINGS II CONTINUUM CARE II. TWENTY (20) WOMEN RENEWED THEIR ELIGIBILTY AND RENEWED THEIR CARE STATUS IN WINGS II. THE WINGS FOR LIFE PROGRAM SERVED 723 PARTICIPANTS. ADDITIONALLY, WINGS SERVED 277 UNELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS WITH THIRD PARTY REFERRAL RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THEIR MEDICAL NEEDS.


WINGS FOR LIFE PROGRAMMING PROVIDES A WIDE ARRAY OF PROGRAM TOPICS AND BENEFITS FOR ALL WINGS PARTICIPANTS. TO ENSURE ALL ENROLLED RECEIVE AS MANY NO-COST BENEFITS AND SERVICES AVAILABLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT THEIR OVERALL WELLNESS, WINGS PARTNERS WITH SISTER-LIKE COMMUNITY PARTNERS WHO PROVIDE ADJUNCT PRODUCTS AND SERVICES VIA THEIR CHARITY PROGRAMS. WINGS' FOSTERS STRONG LONG-TERM COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS THAT COLLABORATE TO SERVE WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER, IN NEED OF SERVICES WINGS DOES NOT PROVIDE TO SUPPORT THEIR GENERAL-HEALTH, OTHER FOCUSED MEDICAL CARE AND TREATMENT, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, AND REFERRAL RESOURCES. OVER THE COURSE YEAR, WINGS HAS PARTNERED WITH PREVENT BLINDNESS; LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS; THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION-SAN ANTONIO CHAPTER, SAN ANTONIO FOOD BANK, UTHEALTH, METHODIST HEALTH SYSTEM, BAPTIST HEALTH SYSTEM, WESLEY NURSES, SLEW, THRIVEWELL, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS SUPPLEMENT WINGS FOR LIFE BENEFITS AND PROGRAMMING. WINGS PRODUCES UNIQUELY FOCUSED PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES THAT STIMULATE PATIENT ENGAGEMENT WITH A DIVERSITY OF TOPICS FOSTERING MEANINGFUL CONVERSATIONS ABOUT BREAST CANCER, BREAST CANCER CARE (PRE-POST SURGERY AND PROCEDURES) TREATMENT NAVIGATION, HOLISTIC HEALTH, AND THE OVERALL CANCER ISSUES THAT IMPACT THEM, AS WELL AS, THEIR FAMILIES. IN ADDITION TO THE EDUCATIONAL TOOLS, RESOURCES, AND SERVICES PROVIDED, PARTICIPANTS ENJOY A MULTITUDE OF FELLOWSHIP ACTIVIES THAT PROVIDE CAMARADERIE ALONG WITH LOTS OF JOY FILLED MOMENTS! THESE PROGRAMMING ACTIVATIONS ARE IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF THE HEALING PROCESS.
