THE BEACON STATE FUND WAS SET UP TO ENGAGE IN ACTIVITIES THAT EDUCATE AND IMPROVE CIVIC PARTICIPATION OF TEXAS CITIZENS BY PROMOTING COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERISM; BY FOSTERING READING AND LITERACY; AND BY HOLDING ONE OR MORE CONFERENCES ANNUALLY AND PERIODIC SEMINARS OR GATHERINGS TO DISCUSS, TEACH, ENCOURAGE, RECOGNIZE, OR OTHERWISE PROMOTE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP, VOLUNTEERISM, READING, AND LITERACY; AND TO RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THESE GOALS BY ALL TEXANS, ESPECIALLY BY WOMEN AND PARTICULARLY WOMEN IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR.

TEXAS WOMEN'S HALL OF FAME HONORS THE STATE'S MOST ACCOMPLISHED WOMEN. THE BIENNIAL AWARDS CEREMONY RECEIVES NOMINATIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO RECOGNIZE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF WOMEN IN TEXAS. INDUCTEES INCLUDE FIRST LADIES, TEACHERS, ASTRONAUTS, ATHLETES AND MANY MORE. THE AWARDS ARE HOUSED AT THE TEXAS WOMAN'S UNIVERSITY IN DENTON, TX AND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC TO LEARN THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF WOMEN THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
THE WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS SERIES IS A SERIES OFFERED TO ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS OWNERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF TEXAS. THE SERIES IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LISTEN, LEARN AND CONNECT WITH SUBJECT-MATTER EXPERTS AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS START AND/OR GROW A BUSINESS. IN 2021, THE SERIES REACHED OVER 1,500 INDIVIDUALS AND WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE RELEVANT INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS OWNERS.
THE WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS PITCH COMPETITION IS A PART OF THE WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS SERIES. THE PITCH COMPETITION PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS THROUGHOUT TEXAS WITH ONE WINNER BEING CHOSEN FROM EACH REGION. THE COMPETITION WAS ABLE TO ASSIST 5 WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES AND 1 JUNIOR BUSINESS OWNER IN 2021.
HOLIDAY WISHES PROJECT BENEFITS CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF TEXAS. FOSTER CARE YOUTH ARE SPONSORED DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND GIFTS ARE PURCHASED FOR THE CHILDREN WITHIN FOSTER CARE.
