THE THEATRE SERVES ALL OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE SAN ANTONIO AREA AS WELL SCHOOLS FROM CENTRAL AND SOUTH TEXAS, AND TO THE PUBLIC AT REASONABLE, AFFORDABLE PRICES. FROM OCTOBER 1, 2020 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2021, THE THEATRE PERFORMED TO 5,225 CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THE THEATRE HAD A TOTAL OF 50 PERFORMANCES.
THE THEATRE PROVIDES ACTING CLASSES FOR CHILDREN FROM AGES 6 TO 18. THE THEATRE HAS CLASSES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. THE THEATRE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 500 CHILDREN THROUGH THESE ACTING CLASSES. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE CREATIVE PROCESS THINKING AND CREATIVITY FOR CHILDREN IN A FUN AND EXCITING ENVIRONMENT.
THE MAGIK THEATRE HAS ESTABLISHED RESIDENCY PROGRAMS WITH THE SAN ANTONIO ISD FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL THEATRE ARTS PROGRAMMING. MAGIK TEACHING ARTISTS DIRECT DRAMA CLASSES FOR SAISD MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO HELP THEM FIND THEIR VOICE IN THE CLASSROOM AND ON THE STAGE. THE THEATRE ALSO HAS A PROGRAM WITH THE BEXAR COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER THAT PROVIDES THEATRE CLASSES FOR THE RESIDENTS. THE MAGIK THEATRE HAS PROGRAM FOR CONCESSIONS AND MERCHANDISE SALES, SELLING REFRESHMENTS DURING PRODUCTIONS. THE THEATRE ALSO HAS A SMALL STORE SELLING T-SHIRTS AND BOOKS.THE MAGIK THEATRE RECEIVES RENTAL INCOME UNDER SHORT-TERM AGREEMENTS FOR THE USE OF ITS DOWNTOWN THEATRE.
