BCI'S MISSION IS TO CONSERVE THE WORLD'S BATS AND THEIR ECOSYSTEMS TO ENSURE A HEALTHY PLANET.

BAT CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE SCIENCE-BASED AND COLLABORATIVE, WORKING WITH CONSERVATION PARTNERS IN THE U.S. AND AROUND THE WORLD TO PROTECT BATS AND THEIR HABITATS BY IDENTIFYING, PROTECTING, AND MANAGING CRITICAL BAT HABITATS AND ADDRESSING BROAD THREATS, LIKE WHITE-NOSE SYNDROME, THAT THREATEN MULTIPLE SPECIES OF BATS. OUR WORK IS FOCUSED ON HIGH-PRIORITY CONSERVATION TARGETS AND BASED ON RIGOROUS SCIENCE AND SHARED DATA. DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS TO PROTECT BATS REQUIRES BCI TO DESIGN INNOVATIVE RESEARCH PROGRAMS WHILE MAINTAINING THE ABILITY TO IMPLEMENT SCIENCE-BASED SOLUTIONS ON THE GROUND. BCI ALSO SEEKS TO INCREASE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE ESSENTIAL ROLE BATS PLAY IN THE HEALTH OF ECOSYSTEMS AND HUMAN WELL-BEING. BY PROMOTING RESEARCH-LED AND SCIENCE-BASED SOLUTIONS AROUND THE WORLD, BCI COLLABORATES WITH LEADING RESEARCHERS AND SCIENTISTS AROUND THE WORLD AND SUPPORTS GRADUATE STUDENTS THROUGH ITS GRANTING PROGRAMS.


BAT CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL'S PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO CONSERVE BATS THROUGH IN-PERSON NATURE EXPERIENCES THAT PROMOTE CONNECTEDNESS TO NATURE. STRATEGIES INCLUDE COMMUNITY EVENTS, RESEARCH, PUBLICATIONS, TRAINING, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. BCI IS COMMITTED TO BUILDING GLOBAL CAPACITY BY INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF CONSERVATION LEADERS.
