LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING EQUALITY TEXAS ADVOCATES AND LOBBIES FOR THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION BASED ON SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND GENDER IDENTITY EXPRESSION. EQUALITY TEXAS SEEKS TO INFORM ITS MEMBERS, ALLIES, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT MATTERS OF PUBLIC POLICY AND LEGISLATION PENDING BEFORE THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE THAT IMPACT TEXANS OF ALL SEXUAL ORIENTATIONS AND GENDER IDENTITIES EXPRESSIONS. EQUALITY TEXAS SEEKS TO PROMOTE CIVIC PARTICIPATION IN THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS THROUGH DIRECT AND GRASSROOTS LOBBYING EFFORTS. THESE EFFORTS INCLUDE CITIZEN LOBBYING VISITS AT THE STATE CAPITOL AND IN LEGISLATORS' DISTRICT OFFICES, TOWN HALL MEETINGS, TESTIFYING AT LEGISLATIVE HEARINGS, AND COMMUNICATION WITH LEGISLATORS VIA MAIL, PHONE OR ELECTRONIC MEANS.
