FESTIVALS - INCLUDING OBSERVANCE/CELEBRATIONS OF IMPORTANT U.S. AND MEXICAN HOLIDAYS SUCH AS INDEPENDENCE DAY (U.S. AND MEXICO), VETERAN'S DAY, DAY OF THE DEAD, THANKSGIVING, AND LOCAL EVENTS SUCH AS THE CITY OF WESLACO'S BIRTHDAY. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - INCLUDING LECTURES BY AUTHORS OF BOOKS ABOUT LOCAL HISTORY, EVENTS, AND INSTITUTIONS, FOR EXAMPLE: FORT BROWN IN BROWNSVILLE, AN IMPORTANT CAVALRY TRAINING SCHOOL UNTIL JEEPS AND HELICOPTERS MADE THEM OBSOLETE.
