THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TRIBAL HEALTH BOARD IS DEDICATED TO SERVING THE TRIBAL NATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY IMPROVING HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR AMERICAN INDIANS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS ADVOCACY EDUCATION AND TRAINING.

THE OKTEC AIMS TO STRENGTHEN PUBLIC HEALTH CAPACITY IN THE SOUTHERN PLAINS REGION THROUGH THE DELIVERY OF HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES TO ASSIST TRIBES TRIBAL ORGANIZATIONS AND UIOS WITH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES SUCH AS IDENTIFYING RELEVANT HEALTH STATUS INDICATORS AND PRIORITIES TO SUPPORT PUBLIC HEALTH INTERVENTIONS THAT REDUCE MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY IN THE POPULATION USING SOUND EPIDEMIOLOGIC PRINCIPLES


THESE PROGRAMS SEEK TO RAISE AWARENESS AND PROVIDE EDUCATION REGARDING THE DANGER OF SHARING MEDICATIONS AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE; FACILITATE CULTURALLY RESONSIVE PREVENTION ACTIVITIES IN UNDER-SERVED TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN OKLAHOMA USING THE STRATEGIC PREVENTION FRAMEWORK; REDUCE SUICIDE IN NATIVE YOUTH


THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM IS TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF INDIAN COUNTRY TO IDENTIFY RESPOND TO AND MITIGATE PUBLIC HEALTH THREATS AND DECREASE MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY AMONG AMERICAN INDIANS AND ALASKAN NATIVES. ADDITIONALLY THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES THE CRITICAL NEED FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION IN INDIAN COUNTRY DURING THE ONGOING OPIOID CRISIS.
