THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TRIBAL HEALTH BOARD IS DEDICATED TO SERVING THE TRIBAL NATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY IMPROVING HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR AMERICAN INDIANS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS ADVOCACY EDUCATION AND TRAINING.

THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM IS TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF INDIAN COUNTRY TO IDENTIFY RESPOND TO AND MITIGATE PUBLIC HEALTH THREATS AND DECREASE MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY AMONG AMERICAN INDIANS AND ALASKAN NATIVES. ADDITIONALLY THE PROGRAM WILL ADDRESS THE CRITICAL NEED FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION IN INDIAN COUNTRY DURING THE ONGOING OPIOID CRISIS.
RAISE AWARENESS AND PROVIDE EDUCATION REGARDING THE DANGER OF SHARING MEDICATIONS AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE; FACILITATE CULTURALLY RESONSIVE PREVENTION ACTIVITIES IN UNDER-SERVED TRIBAL COMMUNITIES IN OKLAHOMA USING THE STRATEGIC PREVENTION FRAMEWORK; REDUCE SUICIDE IN NATIVE YOUTH
PROJECT HAS THE LONG-TERM GOALS OF REDUCING RATES OF DEATH AND DISABILITY FROM TOBACCO USE DIABETES HEART DISEASE AND STROKE AND REDUCING OBESITY USING A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALTHY LIVING AND CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION.
