JULY 2021 - JUNE 2022 THE DISASTER RESILIENCE NETWORK (DRN) PROMOTES ITS MISSION THROUGH A VARIETY OF COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS OF PUBLIC OUTREACH COORDINATED BY OUR PAID STAFF, WITH LEADERSHIP FROM VOLUNTEERS AND THE INVOLVEMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL PARTNERS. WE HAVE THREE CORE PROGRAMS, EACH LED BY A MULTI- SECTOR COUNCIL. -ONE DRN PROGRAM IS THE DISASTER RESILIENT CROSS-CULTURAL COUNCIL. WHICH IS A GRASSROOTS NETWORK OF MULTICULTURAL AND MULTILINGUAL GROUPS, THE CROSS-CULTURAL COUNCIL WORKS WITH MANY COMMUNITIES TO HELP THEIR MEMBERS PREPARE FOR DISASTERS, AND TO HELP PEOPLE RECEIVE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS IN A WAY THEY CAN UNDERSTAND. FOR EXAMPLE WITH DIGITAL OUTREACH ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND A FEW SCHOOL TALKS WHERE WE PRESENT WEATHER SAFETY IN SPANISH & ENGLISH. WE HAVE CONTINUED MONTHLY MEETINGS OF OUR COUNCIL TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES/EVENTS AMONG THE DIFFERENT CULTURAL COMMUNITIES ON EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS. MEETINGS ARE HELD MONTHLY ON THE THIRD THURSDAY OF THE MONTH, THIS PAST YEAR WERE PRIMARILY VIA ZOOM. THE DRBC IS A PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP DESIGNED TO EDUCATE BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS ABOUT THE NEED FOR EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, TO OFFER NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BUSINESS EMERGENCY AND CONTINUITY PLANNING, AND TO ASSIST IN PROMOTING THE CRITICAL ROLE OF BUSINESSES AND NONPROFITS IN A COMMUNITY'S DISASTER RESILIENCY. ON MAY, 2022 WE SPOKE AT THE TULSA EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATION MEETING WHERE WE DISCUSSED THE REASONS THAT YOU NEED TO DO BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING. THE EVENT WAS ONE HOUR LONG AND WE HAD A NON-PAYING CAPTIVE AUDIENCE OF 100 BUSINESS OWNERS. TAMMY STOKES AUTHORED AN ARTICLE THAT WAS PUBLISHED IN THE C&R MAGAZINE DISCUSSING THE TORNADO LOSS OUR BUSINESS SUSTAINED IN 2017. THE ARTICLE POINTS OUT THE NEED FOR BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING THROUGHOUT THE ARTICLE. ESTABLISHED REGULAR MEETINGS BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY 2022 MEETING ONCE MONTHLY. JUST ME AND ONE OTHER FOR THE FIRST SEVERAL MONTHS. BY AUGUST WE HAD REGULAR ATTENDANCE OF 3 AND BY YEAR END WE HAD 4 MEETING WITH US. TAMMY STOKES RE-ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIP WITH GAIL MORATON WITH THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS & HOME SAFETY. SHE HAS REGULAR ATTENDANCE TO THE MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING. SHE PROVIDED US WITH THE NFIB BOOKLET IN PDF FORM FOR PRINT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET JD YOUNG TO PRINT 50 COPIES OF THE BOOKLET FOR US. DRCB ORDERED SEVERAL MULTI LANGUAGE BROCHURES FROM THE NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM (OVER 1000). ATTENDED THE APRIL SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS EVENT AT WOODLAND HILLS MALL ON APRIL 15TH, HANDLING OUT NFIP AND MANY SEVERE WEATHER EVENT BROCHURES. I ANSWERED MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT PLANNING AND DEMONSTRATED A GO-BAG AS WELL. -ANOTHER DRN PROGRAM IS COORDINATED BY THE DISASTER RESILIENT HOUSING COUNCIL. THE HOUSING COUNCIL IS A COLLABORATIVE VENTURE TO HELP PEOPLE LIVE SAFELY AND IN HARMONY WITH NATURE AND IS PARTICULARLY FOCUSED ON STRONGER BUILDING STANDARDS AND LOW IMPACT DEVELOPMENT. IT WANTS TO PROMOTE A "RESILIENCE FOR ALL" APPROACH THAT MAKES SURE EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO RESILIENT HOMES. A MAJOR FOCUS OF THIS YEAR FOR THE HOUSING COUNCIL, AS WITH PREVIOUS YEARS, HAS BEEN THE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR BUSINESS AND HOME SAFETY (IBHS) ON IMPLEMENTING THEIR FORTIFIED HOME HIGH WIND / HIGH WIND AND HAIL PROGRAM IN OKLAHOMA, WHICH CERTIFIES THAT A HOME HAS MET THE IBHS STANDARDS AT ROOF, SILVER OR GOLD LEVEL.
