IN 2021, OUR FOCUS WAS ON STABILITY AS WE CONTINUED TO DEAL WITH THE IMPACT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE TULSA SPCA REMAINS STEADFAST IN OUR MISSION TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF DOGS AND CATS, AND THEIR HUMAN COMPANIONS. THE WAY IN WHICH WE IMPROVE THOSE LIVES IS WHAT BEST TELLS OUR STORY:*IN 2021, WE PERFORMED 6,144 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES - THIS NUMBER OF SURGERIES PREVENTED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF UNWANTED BIRTHS IN ONE YEAR ALONE. *THROUGH OUR ONSITE CLINIC, WE PROVIDED 19,589 LOW-COST VACCINES TO RESIDENTS IN LOCATIONS AROUND TOWN THESE VACCINES ENSURE OUR CITIZENS' BELOVED PETS ARE HEALTHY AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF.*OUR INTAKE AND PLACEMENT PROGRAM REMAINED BUSY THIS YEAR, PLACING 948 ANIMALS IN THEIR FUR-EVER HOMES.*NO ONE EVER WANTS TO LOSE THEIR PET, SO TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF OUR PLACEMENTS, AND GIVE PEACE OF MIND TO THE OWNERS, THE TULSA SPCA PROVIDED 3,686 MICROCHIPS IN 2021.*UNFORTUNATELY, NOT ALL OF OUR WORK IS PETTING AND PLAYING WITH ANIMALS AND SMILING AS THEY FIND THEIR NEW OWNERS. BUT THANKFULLY, WE ARE HERE TO ENSURE PETS ACROSS GREEN COUNTRY ARE SAFE. OUR ORGANIZATION INVESTIGATED 1,518 CRUELTY CASES THROUGHOUT 2021.*AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, A FED PET IS A HAPPY AND HEALTHY PET. DURING THIS TIME OF ECONOMIC STRUGGLE AND JOB INSTABILITY, WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE 41,285 POUNDS OF DOG AND CAT FOOD TO OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED.HOWEVER, WE CANNOT DO THIS WORK ALONE. MUCH OF THE WORK MENTIONED ABOVE IS THROUGH OUR DEDICATED AND PASSIONATE STAFF. HOWEVER, WE ALSO HAVE NUMEROUS VOLUNTEERS WHO DONATE THEIR TIME AND TALENT TO OUR AGENCY. IN 2021, WE HAD 278 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS WHO GAVE 7,405 HOURS TO OUR VARIOUS PROGRAMS. THAT IS EQUIVALENT TO MORE THAN 3.5 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES AND EQUATES TO $180,328.32 IN VALUE!ADDITIONALLY, THE WORK WE DO IS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE FINANCIAL GENEROSITY OF OUR SUPPORTERS. THE TULSA SPCA IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, NOR DO WE RECEIVE ANY GOVERNMENT FUNDING, OTHER THAN FUNDS RELATED TO CARES ACT. ALL OF THE WORK WE DO IS A RELIANT ON THE PRIVATE DONATIONS MADE DIRECTLY TO OUR ORGANIZATION. THIS WORK, ALTHOUGH OFTEN DIFFICULT BOTH PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY, IS SO INCREDIBLY MEANINGFUL. THE DOGS AND CATS WE HELP WANT NOTHING MORE THAN TO LOVE AND BE LOVED. BEING ABLE TO HELP MAKE THAT A REALITY IS A PRIVILEGE.
