TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM THE CORDELL HULL FOUNDATION (CHF) MAINTAINS DIRECT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE EDUCATIONAL MINISTRIES OF THE GOVERNMENTS OF FRANCE, GREECE, ITALY AND SPAIN. CHF OPERATED THE TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAM AS ITS PRIMARY VEHICLE TO ACHIEVE ITS MISSION, SPONSORING J-1 EXCHANGE VISAS FOR 500 FOREIGN TEACHERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. FOREIGN TEACHERS WORK IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE K-12 SCHOOLS IN THE UNITED STATES FOR A 1-5 YEAR PERIOD, AND THEN RETURN TO THEIR HOME COUNTRIES TO SHARE WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED, AND WITH IMPROVED ENGLISH COMPREHENSION. CHF IS DESIGNATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE EVERY TWO YEARS TO OPERATE TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAMS. THE LARGEST POPULATIONS OF TEACHERS ARE FROM FRANCE AND SPAIN.
