AFTER SCHOOL CARE AND DAY CAMP: AFTER SCHOOL CARE: THE YWCA OFFERS AN AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM FOR WORKING PARENTS.CHILDREN ARE EITHER PICKED UP BY A YWCA VAN OR PARENTS DROP CHILDREN OFF AFTER SCHOOL. THE AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM IS A STRUCTURED PROGRAM OFFERING PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, GAMES, HOMEWORK TIME, AND A SNACK. SUMMER DAY CAMP: THE YWCA OFFERS A SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH WORKING PARENTS. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS PARENTS TO WORK KNOWING THAT THEIR CHILD IS IN A SAFE AND CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT WHILE HAVING FUN.
GIRLS ON THE RUN: GIRLS ON THE RUN IS A TRANSFORMATIONAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY BASED ON POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. THE PROGRAM IS FOR GIRLS IN 3RD TO 8TH GRADE. THE PROGRAM TEACHES LIFE SKILLS THROUGH DYNAMIC INTERACTIVE LESSONS AND RUNNING GAMES. THE GOAL IS TO UNLEASH CONFIDENCE THROUGH ACCOMPLISHMENT WHILE ESTABLISHING A LIFETIME APPRECIATION OF HEALTH AND FITNESS.
YW BUDDIES AND YW TEENS: YW BUDDIES MENTORING PROGRAM MATCHES CHILDREN WITH POSITIVE ROLE MODELS. THE MAJORITY OF THE CHILDREN ARE FROM SINGLE PARENT HOMES AND ARE BETWEEN AGES FIVE AND TWELVE. OUR GOAL IS TO REINFORCE POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES, INCLUDING A STRENGTHENED SENSE OF SELF-WORTH AT HOME, IN SCHOOL AND IN THE COMMUNITY. ALL MATCHES ARE BASED ON EITHER SITE OR SCHOOL DURING THE SCHOOL MONTHS. YW TEENS IS A SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING ORGANIZATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL AGED GIRLS. THE GOAL IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN CENTRAL LOUISIANA BY SUPPORTING THE LOCAL MISSION OF THE YWCA.
OPEN SWIM AND SWIM LESSONS:YWCA OFFERS SWIM INSTUCTION TO ALL AGES AND GROUP WATER EXERCISE FOR ADULTS AND SENIORS. THE YWCA IS ALSO USED FOR LAP SWIMMING, FAMILY SWIMS AND OPEN POOL. RECREATION GYM: THE YWCA OFFERS A RECREATIONAL GYM PROGRAM AT THE TURNER STREET LOCATION, WHICH ALLOWS MEMBERS ACCESS TO AN OLYMPIC SIZED POOL, A THERAPY POOL, A WORKOUT AREA AND BASKETBALL COURTS.
