THE LOUISIANA PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGY FOUNDATION (LPCF) IS A 501(C)(3) PUBLIC CHARITY THAT SUPPORTS FAMILIES ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA WHOSE CHILDREN SUFFER FROM CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS AND/OR HEART DISEASE. IN ADDITION, LPCF PROVIDES FREE HEART SCREENS FOR HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES IN AN EFFORT TO PREVENT SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH.

GRANTS FOR FAMILIES - LPCF ASSISTS FAMILIES WHO HAVE CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM A CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT BY COVERING COSTS INCURRED FROM CARDIAC-RELATED INPATIENT HOSPITAL STAYS IN BATON ROUGE, NEW ORLEANS AND OUT-OF-STATE HOSPITALS, AS WELL AS MEDICALLY NECESSARY ITEMS THAT ARE NOT COVERED BY THIRD PARTY PAYERS, SUCH AS HOME OXYGEN, PULSE OX MACHINES, PRESCRIPTION CO-PAYMENTS, AND CONTINUING EDUCATION SUCH AS CPR LESSONS.
HEART SCREENINGS - LPCF OFFERS FREE HEART SCREENS TO STUDENT ATHLETES IN AN EFFORT TO DETECT UNDERLYING CARDIAC ISSUES, SPECIFICALLY HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY. LPCF IS PARTNERING WITH MULTIPLE HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE BATON ROUGE AND SURROUNDING AREAS TO SCREEN ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN ORGANIZED SPORTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL. EACH ATHLETE RECEIVES AN EKG AND ECHOCARDIOGRAM, BOTH ANALYZED BY A LOCAL PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGIST.
