DURING 2021, MISSISSIPPI CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION FOUNDATION (MCEF) CONTINUED TO STRIVE IN MEETING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES THAT WERE INITIALLY ESTABLISHED BY ITS FOUNDERS MANY DECADES AGO. THE STAFF AT MCEF WORKED VIGOROUSLY TOWARDS THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION OF PROMOTING CAREERS, RECRUITING CAPABLE INDIVIDUALS, AND TRAINING A QUALITY WORKFORCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN MISSISSIPPI. MEMBERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI'S DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION; CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT OFFICE ALONG WITH THE STAFF OF MCEF, MET FOUR (4) TIMES IN 2021 (ONCE A QUARTER) TO REVIEW THE GROWTH AND SUCCESS OF MISSISSIPPI'S CAREER AND TECHNICAL PROGRAMS ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. MCEF'S STAFF ALSO MET WITH ALL 112 OF THE SECONDARY-CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATIONAL (CTE) CENTERS, 3 TIMES IN 2021, TO SHARE PERTINENT INFORMATION NEEDED TO KEEP THE PROGRAMS OPERATING PROPERLY AND TO INFORM THEM OF ANY PROBLEM AREAS THAT MAY REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION THAT WILL ENSURE THE CONTINUED GROWTH AND IMPROVEMENT OF THEIR CAREER AND TECHNICAL PROGRAMS.ENROLLMENT IN SECONDARY PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT MS GREW DRASTICALLY DURING THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR. MCEF OVERSAW 112 HIGH SCHOOLS THAT COMPRISED OF 186 CONSTRUCTION TRADE PROGRAMS INCLUDING 5,026 STUDENTS. THREE NEW CAREER AND TECHNICAL TRADE PROGRAMS WERE ADDED TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF EXISTING PROGRAMS THAT ARE RUNNING SMOOTHLY THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE NUMBER OF 3 YEAR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN THE CT PROGRAMS INCREASED BY 49% AND IS RAPIDLY INCREASING. IN ADDITION, MCEF CERTIFIED OVER 50 NEW INSTRUCTORS IN THE NCCER CURRICULUM. MCEF STAFF ALSO CERTIFIED OVER 200 INMATES INCARCERATED IN CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES THROUGHOUT MS, PROVIDING THEM WITH THE PROPER EDUCATION AND TRAINING THEY NEED TO ENSURE A FRESH START IN THE WORKFORCE INDUSTRY UPON RELEASE FROM INCARCERATION.SEVERAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN SECONDARY CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT MS CONTINUE THEIR CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION AFTER GRADUATION. MCEF RECOGNIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE STUDENTS RECEIVING CREDIT FOR WHAT THEY HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED AND SEES NO REASON FOR THESE STUDENTS TO BE REQUIRED TO REPEAT CURRICULUM THEY HAVE ALREADY EARNED CREDENTIALS FORM. OUR GOAL FOR 2021 WAS FULFILLED BY REQUIRING THAT ALL 15 COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND THEIR EXTENSIONS, UTILIZE THE NCCER CURRICULUM TO ENSURE THAT THE CONSTRUCTION CAREER PATH STUDENTS CAN CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION UPON GRADUATION AND NOT BE REQUIRED TO START OVER. IN ADDITION, MCEF PROVIDED CREDENTIALS FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION STUDENTS IN THESE 15 COMMUNITY COLLEGES THAT ARE RECOGNIZED BY OVER 70 CONTRACTORS IN THE STATE OF MS. MCEF ALSO CONTINUED TRAINING FOR OVER 200 MEN AND OMEN PARTICIPATING IN IT'S APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM IN NUMEROUS CONSTRUCTION AND MANUFACTURING TRADES.
