THE GULF COAST SAFETY COUNCIL IS A LOUISIANA CHARTERED NON-PROFIT CORPORATION, DECLARED TAX EXEMPT BY IRS AS A SECTION 501(C)(3) EDUCATIONAL ENTITY. THE COUNCIL, THROUGH OPERATIONS THAT ARE TOTALLY NON-PROFIT, CONDUCTS EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS IN INDUSTRIAL SAFETY FOR CONSTRUCTION AND FOR PETRO-CHEMICAL WORKERS. MOST OF THE LARGE REFINERIES IN THE AREA REQUIRE PROOF (AN ID CARD) OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COUNCIL'S ONE-DAY SEMINAR. THE REFINERIES OFTEN PROCESS THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES THROUGH THE COURSE, OR OFFER SIMILAR IN-HOUSE TRAINING. THIS KIND OF SAFETY TRAINING IN CONSTRUCTION AND PETRO-CHEMICALS IS A CONSCIENTIOUS EFFORT BY INDUSTRY TO COMPLY WITH REGULATIONS OF THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION. DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2021, THE COUNCIL PROCESSED APPROXIMATELY 125,104 TRAINEES THROUGH ITS INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM.
