MISSION:NAMI NEW ORLEANS OFFERS HOPE, HELP, AND HEALING TO PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND TO THOSE WHO SHARE THEIR LIVES THROUGH FAMILY SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY, AND QUALITY PSYCHOSOCIAL SERVICES. OUR WORK HELPS INDIVIDUALS LIVE WITH DIGNITY AND INDEPENDENCE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY, ENRICHING ALL OF OUR LIVES.

HOUSING: NAMI NEW ORLEANS PSH SERVICES AIM TO MAXIMIZE THE INDEPENDENT LIVING OF EACH MEMBER. HOUSING SUPPORT MAY BE PROVIDED TO MEMBERS LIVING IN NAMI NEW ORLEANS MANAGED APARTMENTS, AS WELL AS TO MEMBERS HOLDING LEASES IN THE COMMUNITY, DEPENDING ON THE NEEDS OF THE INDIVIDUAL. LEVELS AND AREAS OF SUPPORT ARE PROGRAM SPECIFIC AND DETERMINED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED TO DEVELOP INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS, PARTICULARLY IN THE AREAS OF MONEY MANAGEMENT, HOUSEKEEPING, SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES, SOCIAL AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES, FOLLOWING A LEASE, PERSONAL HYGIENE, AND THE ABILITY TO UTILIZE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS. HOUSING STAFF ALSO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND REFERRALS TO OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES SUCH AS FOOD BANKS, FOOD STAMP OFFICE, REPRESENTATIVE PAYEE SERVICES, MENTAL HEALTH AND/OR CO-OCCURRING DISORDER TREATMENT, AND OTHER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
CASE MANAGEMENT: NAMI NEW ORLEANS CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES SEEK TO ENSURE THAT A SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS AND SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIVES.
LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTED DIVERSION: TO IMPROVE PUBLIC SAFETY AND REDUCE THE USE OF JAIL AND OTHER CRIMINAL JUSTICE RESOURCES FOR THOSE WHOSE NEEDS ARE BETTER MET BY SOCIAL SERVICES.
