STAFF REPRESENTATIVES/LAWYERS REPRESENT MEMBERS BEFORE THE EMPLOYERS. THIS INVOLVES HANDLING GRIEVANCES AND OTHER EMPLOYEE CONCERNS. THE INTENT IS TO PROTECT EMPLOYEE RIGHTS AND DIGNITY. STAFF REPRESENTATIVES ALSO MEET WITH MEMBERS SITE BY SITE OVER THE SCHOOL YEAR TO DETERMINE WHAT ISSUES CONCERN THEM.
ORGANIZING POTENTIAL MEMBERS TO JOIN THE UNION. STAFF REPRESENTATIVES VISIT WORK SITES IN NEW ORLEANS TO MEET AND DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH INDIVIDUALS WHO WISH TO JOIN THE UNION AND TO BECOME A PART OF THE LARGER VOICE, AS WELL AS TO OBTAIN THE BENEFITS THAT ACCRUE TO OUR MEMBERS THROUGH MEMBERSHIP.
