ENHANCING POLICE SERVICES/43 CHIEFS OF POLICE ENCOMPASSES THE GENERAL ACTIVITIES OF THE DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE NOT OTHERWISE DESCRIBED UNDER LOCAL POLICE COORDINATION OR STAFF DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR. IT INCLUDES MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETINGS CONDUCTED AT THE DOVER POLICE DEPARTMENT AND INCLUDES A BROAD SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES WHICH ADDRESS ISSUES AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM PROBLEMS FOR THE SINGULAR PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE DELIVERY OF POLICE SERVICES. FORTY-EIGHT POLICE DEPARTMENTS ARE SERVED BY THIS PROGRAM.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR IS A TRAINING SEMINAR JOINTLY SPONSORED BY THE DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE AND THE DOVER POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE SEMINAR IS TYPICALLY CONDUCTED IN REHOBOTH BEACH IN MAY AND CONCENTRATES ON IMPROVING THE MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY OF CHIEFS OF POLICE AND THEIR COMMAND PERSONNEL. THE PREVIOUSLY POSTPONED SEMINAR WAS HELD IN OCTOBER 2021. DOVER USES A PORTION OF STATE AID TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF THE SEMINAR. FORTY-EIGHT AGENCIES ARE SERVED BY THIS PROGRAM.
LOCAL POLICE COORDINATION HAS FORTY-EIGHT POLICE AGENCIES WHO SERVE UNDER THE PROGRAM AND THE COORDINATION EFFORT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING TOGETHER THE DIVERSE INTERESTS AND ABILITIES THAT EXIST AMONG THE FORTY-EIGHT POLICE AGENCIES. THROUGH COORDINATION OF EFFORTS, WE ARE ABLE TO DEVELOP A UNIFIED APPROACH TO DELAWARE'S POLICING EFFORTS THAT HAS RESULTED IN ADOPTION OF UNIFORM, STATEWIDE, OPERATING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
