THE CONWAY HUMAN DEVELOPMENT CENTER (CHDC) VOLUNTEER COUNCIL IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT WAS FORMED IN 1981. THE COUNCIL CONSISTS OF COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES WHO WANT TO HELP MEET THE SPECIAL, LONG-TERAM NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AT CHDC. THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE COUNCIL IS TO PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR THE NEEDS, WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS. THE SECOND PURPOSE OF THE COUNCIL IS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF THE NEEDS AND THE ABILITIES OF CHDC INDIVIDUALS; COUNCIL MEMBERS HELP FURTHER THIS AWARENESS IN THIER DAY-TO-DAY LIVES WITH THE INFORMATION PROVIDED AT MEETINGS.THE COUNCIL ALSO HOST TWO VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENTS. WE HOSTED THE BOWL-A-THON AND WALK-A-THON. THE FUNDS RAISED WERE APPLIED TOWARD CHRISTAMS GIFTS FOR APPROXIMATELY 460 RESIDENTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES FOR OUR RESIDENTS.
