MAG DANCE ACADEMY OF SCIENCE & HEALTH (DASH) SUMMER PROGRAM, PROVIDES DANCE INERVENTION SERVICES TO AGES 5-15 AS A WAY TO BECOME PROACTIVE AGAINST CHILDHOOD OBESITY. THE CAMP INTEGRATES CONTEMPORARY DANCE STYLES AND TECHNIQUEST TO PRESENT TRADITIONAL SCIENCE & MATH IN A NON-TRADITIONAL WAY. STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN A 8-WEEK DAY CAMP TO ENJOY DANCE TRAINING, PROPER NUTRITION, SEL-IMAGE WORKSHOPS, SCIENCE AND MATH LESSONS, A SUMMERS END DANCE PERFORMANCE AND MUCH MORE. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP KIDS DISCOVER THE CONNECTION BETWEE DANCE, SCIENCE AND HEALTH WHILE TEACHNG THEM HOW HEALTHY EATING AD EXCERCISE CAN BE FUN AND EDUCATIONAL TOO! THE THURGOOD SITE FEATURES AN EXCELLENT STUDENT COUNCIL THAT LEADS MONTHLY COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS AT THEIR SCHOOL. AT THIS PARTICULAR SITE, THE FOCUS IS ON SOCIAL0EMOTIONAL LEARNING, AND THE STUDENTS ACTIVIELY PARTICIPATE IN IT. THEY CREATED AND CAST STUDENTS FOR A SKI THAT THEY PERFORMED AT THE WINTER SHOWCASE, DISPLAYING THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPTS. ADDITIONALLY, THE STUDENTS WERE SELECTED TO PERFORM AT THE BELMONT UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL GAME, WHICH HELPED THEM OVER THEIR FEAR OF PERFORMING IN FRONT OF LARGE CROWDS. THIS EXPERIENCE PROVED THAT IF YOU WORK HARD AND SET YOUR MIND TO SOMETHING YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS ROCKETSHIP- THIS SITE OFFERS A RANGE OF ACTIVITIES THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY COOKING, DANCE, ACTING AND HANDS-ON STEM PROJECTS ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS AT OUR ELEMENTARY SITE WAS THE FAMILY ENGAGEMENT NIGHT WHERE WE INVITED FAMILIES TO CAVE PUMPKINS WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND INTERACT WITH THE MOVES AND GROOVES STAFF. LAST, WE HAD THE PRIVILEGED OF TAKING OUR FAMILIES TO CHEEKWOOD A POPULAR ROURIST ATTRACTION.THE JFK SITE FOCUSES HEAVILY ON STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS, AND MATHEMATICS) AND PROJECT-BASED LEARNING. STUDENTS HAVE CREATED A VARIETY OF PROJECTS SUCH AS BIRDHOUSES, CARS, VOLCANOES, LAVA LAMPS, AND MORE. ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS PROJAM IS OFFERING A STEM DAY, WHERE DIFFERENT COMMUNITY PARTNERS,INCLUDING STUDIO NPL, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, AND BELMONT UNIVERSITY PROVIDE FAMILIES AND STUDENTS WITH HANDS ON STEM ACTIVITIES.THE PROGRAM WAS HONORED TO HAVE THE MAYOR VISIT THE SITE TO WITNESS HOW IMPACTFUL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING IS FOR YOUTH.
