FRIENDS OF THE EEL RIVER'S MISSION IS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE EEL RIVER WATERSHED AND ITS FISHERIES. FRIENDS OF THE EEL RIVER'S KEYSTONE PRIORITY OVER THE NEXT DECADE IS TO RESTORE FISH PASSAGE TO THE EEL RIVER HEADWATERS.

DAM REMOVAL: FOER CONTINUED WORKING TO ENSURE TIMELY REMOVAL OF THE TWO POTTER VALLEY PROJECT DAMS IN THE EEL RIVER HEADWATERS AND RESTORE SALMONID ACCESS TO PRIME SPAWNING AND REARING HABITAT.


ESTUARY AND LOWER RIVER: FOER PURSUED PUBLIC TRUST LITIGATION AGAINST HUMBOLDT COUNTY FOR FAILURE TO ADEQUATELY PROTECT SURFACE FLOWS IMPACTED BY GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION IN THE LOWER EEL BASIN, WE ALSO HIGHLIGHTED AND SUPPORTED EXCELLENT RESTORATION WORK IN THE ESTUARY.


PROTECTING EEL RIVER SPECIES: FOER CONTINUED TO SUPPORT GENETIC RESEARCH INTO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SUMMER STEELHEAD AND TO ENSURE THAT FUNDS FROM OUR CANNABIS MITIGATION GRANT FUND ADMINISTERED THROUGH HUMBOLDT COUNTY WERE PUT TO APPROPRIATE USE ON PROJECTS THAT WOULD REDUCE SEDIMENT AND BENEFIT AQUATIC SPECIES IN SENSITIVE HABITAT.
