THE MISSION OF UNITED WAY OF NEVADA COUNTY IS TO IMPROVE LIVES BY MOBILIZING THE CARING POWER OF OUR COMMUNITY.

UWNC DEVELOPS, ORGANIZES, AND SUPPORTS NEEDED COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS. UWNC WORKS WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND THE LARGER COMMUNITY TO IDENTIFY GAPS IN SERVICES AND TO MOBILIZE AND CREATE PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FILLING THOSE GAPS. THE MOST IMPACTFUL ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE (1) A PARTNERSHIP LEADER IN PROVIDING A FREE, 2-DAY HEALTH CLINIC; (2) CREATING AND MANAGING FOOD ACCESS SATURDAY, AND (3) DEVELOPING THE FIRST ON-CAMPUS SCHOOL FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM IN THE COUNTY.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS: FOOD ACCESS SATURDAY PROGRAM SUPPORTS NEVADA COUNTY RESIDENTS BY OFFERING FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THAT ARE UNABLE TO ACCESS FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS DURING THE WEEK. THE FOOD PANTRY PROGRAM - IN COOPERATION WITH INTERFAITH FOOD MINISTRY AND THREE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS - ESTABLISHED THE COUNTY'S FIRST HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS FOOD PANTRY IN FEBRUARY 2020, AND HAVE EXPANDED TO OTHER CAMPUSES, INCLUDING ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS FOR THE 2020/2021 SCHOOL YEAR. GRASS VALLEY FREE HEALTH CLINIC - THE 2022 FREE 3-DAY CLINIC HELD ON JULY 15TH, 16TH, AND 17TH WAS A GREAT SUCCESS. PEOPLE RECEIVED MEDICAL, DENTAL OR VISION SERVICES EACH DAY OF THE FREE CLINIC. 216 VISION PATIENTS WERE SERVED; 2,686 MEDICAL, DENTAL AND VISION SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO 613 PATIENTS IN 2022 WITH A TOTAL OF $321,154 WORTH OF HEALTH-CARE SERVICES.
