Part 3 - Line 1
TO OFFER REFUGE, RESOURCES, RENEWAL & RESPECT TO MARITIME COMMUNITY THROUGH MULTI-FAITH SERVICE. COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS GREATLY IMPACTED OUR SERVICES DUE TO CREW NOT BEING RELEASED FROM SHIPS AND RESTRICTIONS FOR CROWD GATHERING. HOWEVER, WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD AND ADAPT TO THE NEEDS OF THE SEAFARERS AND REACHING OUT TO VISIT AND PROVIDE COUNSELING, CARE AND PRACTICAL SERVICES TO THE CREW ON THE SHIPS, COMMUNICATE VIA TEXT AND SOCIAL MEDIA, AS WELL AS PROVIDE VIRTUAL SERVICES. OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IS STILL UNDER WAY AND WE EXPECT TO HAVE THE BUILDING COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
EACH YEAR, OUR CENTER HOSTS VISITS FROM NEARLY 150,000 CREW AND PORT COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND IN FISCAL YEAR 2021 WE DEMOLISHED OUR OLD BUILDING AND WE WERE NOT ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE CREW MEMBERS AT THE SITE. OUR PROGRAMS/SERVICES INCLUDED BUT WERE NO LIMITED TO: - PASTORAL AND PRACTICAL SHIP VISITS: 168 - PASTORAL CARE ISSUES: 815 - VOLUNTEER HOURS: 515 - DELIVERED 901 SHOEBOX CHRISTMAS GIFTS TO VISITING CREW IN 55 SHIPS. WE COULD NOT UTILIZE THE HELP OF MANY VOLUNTEERS, NOR BOARD SHIPS DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, SO OUR SMALL DEDICATED GROUP WORKED TIRELESSLY PACKING AND DELIVERING GIFTS AND BLESSING THE CREW AT THE GANGWAY OF THE SHIPS. - VISIT CREW OF AS MANY AS 15 SHIPS PER MONTH TO DELIVER HUMANITARIAN BAGS FULL OF TOILETRIES AND NEEDED ITEMS, BAKED GOODS, HOLIDAY ITEMS, PUZZLES AND GAMES AND MORE. - WORK WITH 2 MARINER FRIENDLY CONGREGATIONS WHO HAVE ADOPTED THE CREW OF THREE CYCLICAL SHIPS BY VISITING A MINIMUM OF TWICE PER MONTH WITH TREATS, GIFTS AND WARM SMILES AND FRIENDSHIP. - PROVIDED 25 VIRTUAL MULTI-FAITH SERVICES TO 24 CARNIVAL SHIPS SAILING AROUND THE GLOBE, INCLUDING SPECIAL SERVICES TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AND EASTER, AND SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR OTHER FAITH TRADITIONS.
