MIAMI DADE AREA HEALTH EDUCATION CENTER (AHEC)'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO QUALITY, COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION FOR THE UNDERSERVED, UNINSURED, ECONOMICALLY NEEDY AND OTHER VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS. ITS CURRENT PROGRAMS ARE TOBACCO CESSATION; TOBACCO TRAINING STATE AND COMMUNITY INTERVENTION; COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING & EDUCATION; PROSTATE AWARENESS EDUCATION; ALZHEIMER'S CAREGIVERS WORKSHOPS; ALZHEIMER'S WORKFORCE TRAINING; DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT WORKSHOPS; COVID-19 EDUCATION; CONTINUING EDUCATION TRAINING FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS; COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTICUM'S FOR NURSING STUDENTS; AND HRSA MODEL SCHOLARS PROGRAM.
