Part 3
THIS PAST YEAR WAS ONE THAT "PUT MSECA ON THE MAP". NOT ONLY WAS THE ASSOCIATION ABLE TO HOST A VIRTUAL CONFERENCE WITH OVER 250 PARTICIPANTS, THEY WERE ALSO ABLE TO SECURE THE LARGEST GRANT TO DATE THROUGH SAVE THE CHILDREN. WITH THIS GRANT, THE ASSOCIATION WAS TASKED WITH PROVIDING LITERACY ACTIVITIES AND EDUCATION TO AREAS THAT ARE OFTEN UNDERSERVED IN THE STATE. THE ASSOCIATION PARTNERED WITH SEVERAL LIBRARIES, SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO DO THINGS SUCH AS EXPAND CHILDREN'S SERVICES IN LIBRARIES, PROVIDE LITERACY BASED COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS, AND SERVE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONALS IN THE STATE THROUGH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. THE ASSOCIATION HOSTED A VERY SUCCESSFUL, LOW COST CONFERENCE FOR PROFESSIONALS ALL OVER THE STATE TO OBTAIN PDUS. THE ASSOCIATION WORKED WITH SEVERAL SCHOOLS AND AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS SERVING CHILDREN BIRTH-3RD GRADE TO BRING IN NEW RESOURCES FOR THEIR PROGRAMS. ADDITIONALLY, MSECA WAS ABLE TO PARTNER WITH SOME LOCAL AUTHORS TO NOT ONLY SUPPORT THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY, BUT TO PROVIDE BOOKS AND VISITS FROM AUTHORS TO CHILDREN. THIS WAS A VERY FUN AND SUCCESSFUL GRANT AND THE ASSOCIATION HAS ENJOYED THE PARTNERSHIP WHILE CONTINUING TO SERVE THE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONALS, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES IN MISSISSIPPI.
