PROJECT RISE AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM:OPERATION SHOESTRING'S PROJECT RISE AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAM PROVIDES ENGAGING EDUCATIONAL, ARTISTIC, AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES FOR PRE-KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 5TH GRADE STUDENTS, THE MAJORITY OF WHOM ARE ENROLLED AT WALTON AND GALLOWAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. THIS PROGRAM SEEKS TO EMPOWER CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SERVED TO CREATE THEIR OWN SUCCESS, AND THAT OF THEIR COMMUNITY, SO WE CAN ALL RISE TOGETHER.
PARENT INITIATIVES:SHOESTRING'S PARENT INITIATIVES INCLUDE WORKSHOPS DESIGNED TO HELP PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS DEVELOP TOOLS AND RESOURCES THAT CAN BEST HELP THEIR FAMILIES REALIZE THEIR OWN SELF-DETERMINED POTENTIAL AND THRIVE. THE CURRENT WORKSHOPS INCLUDE THOSE FOCUSED ON PARENTING, STRESS MANAGEMENT, HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND FINANCIAL LITERACY. THESE TOPICS ARE DETERMINED BY SELF-DESCRIBED NEEDS OF PARTICIPATING PARENTS. SHOESTRING ALSO PROVIDES SOME RESOURCES IN SUPPORT OF FAMILIES IN CRISIS.
MS STATEWIDE AFTERSCHOOL NETWORK:OPERATION SHOESTRING IS THE FISCAL AGENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ORGANIZATION FOR A STATEWIDE AFTERSCHOOL NETWORK FOCUSED ON CREATING MORE HIGH-QUALITY AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS IN MISSISSIPPI. NEAR-TERM PRIORITIES AND WORK INCLUDE CREATING QUALITY STANDARDS AND PROVIDING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING FOR SCHOOL- AND COMMUNITY-BASED AFTERSCHOOL PROVIDERS.
