MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES CONDUCTED TO PROVIDE PEDIATRIC PHYSICIANS IN THE THE STATE OF ALABAMA WITH TOOLS AND EDUCATION TO ASSIST THEM WITH PROVIDING QUALITY PATIENT CARE AND SERVICES. TWO MEETINGS WERE CONDUCTED ACROSS THE STATE DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR WITH APPROXIMATELY 100 PARTICIPANTS PER MEETING.
VARIOUS PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND INFORMATION FOR PEDIATRIC HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC REGARDING HEALTH CONCERNS FACING CHILDREN IN ALABAMA.
REACH OUT AND READ - PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PREPARE CHILDREN TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL BY PARTNERING WITH DOCTORS TO PRESCRIBE BOOKS AND ENCOURAGE FAMILIES TO READ TOGETHER. APPROXIMATELY 150,000 CHILDREN WERE SERVED IN THE STATE OF ALABAMA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR THROUGH 300 MEDICAL PROVIDERS.
DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING PROJECT - THIS PROJECT PROVIDES STANDARDIZED SCREENING TO IDENTIFY DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS IN CHILDREN. THE ALABAMA CHILD HEALTH IMPROVEMENT ALLIANCE (ACHIA) DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TRAINING TRAINS PRACTICES ON ROUTINE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING FOR EARLIER IDENTIFICATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND APPROPRIATE REFERRAL TO BEST ASSURE A YOUNG CHILD'S OPTIMAL DEVELOPMENT AND READINESS FOR KINDERGARTEN.
