FORM 990, PART III - THE PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENT THE KNOXVILLE BOTANICAL GARDEN AND ARBETUM (KGBA)IS A 50 ACRE PUBLIC GARDEN LOCATED ON THE REMARKABLE LANDSCAPE OF THE HISTORIC HOWELL NURSERIES. KGBA IS LOCATED MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN KNOXVILLE IN THE MIDST OF A HISTORIC URBAN NEIGHBORHOOD. KGBA'S MISSION IS TO PRESERVE THE HISTORIC PLANTS AND ARCHITECTURE, INCLUDING RARE SPECIMENS OF TREES AND UNIQUIE STONE BUILDINGS. KGBA IS DEVELOPING THE SITEAS A REGIONAL ATTRACTION, WHICH WILL HELP SUPPORT THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF DOWNTOWN AND SPUR THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF EAST KNOXVILLE.
