THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF DIAGNOSTIC & INTERVENTIONAL NEPHROLOGY PROVIDES EDUCATION TO MEMBERS AND THE DIALYSIS ACCESS COMMUNITY. IN 2021, A VIRTUAL MEETING WAS HELD IN LIEU OF THE IN-PERSON ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING. THE PROGRAM SERVES AS AN ANNUAL TOUCHTONE OF DIALYSIS ACCESS EDUCATION AND COVERS MANY PERTINENT TOPICS RELATED TO ALL ASPECTS OF ASDIN MEMBERS' PRACTICE. THE VIRTUAL MEETING OFFERED CME AT NOMINAL COST AND WAS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE FOR TRAINEES. THE VIRTUAL MEETING ALSO PROMOTED RESEARCH THROUGH A VIRTUAL PODIUM ABSTRACT SESSION AND RECORDED ON DEMAND ABSTRACT SESSION.
ASDIN CONTINUES TO PROVIDE CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS FOR PHYSICIANS AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. THIS PROGRAM RECOGNIZES ACHIEVEMENT IN CERTAIN AREAS OF PRACTICE. IN 2021, ASDIN REACHED A MILESTONE OF CERTIFYING 500 PHYSICIANS IN HEMODIALYSIS VASCULAR ACCESS SINCE THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2003. ASDIN CONTINUES TO CERTIFY PHYSICIANS IN PERITONEAL DIALYSIS AND RENAL ULTRASOUND. IN 2021, ASDIN ADDED A NEW CERTIFICATION THAT ADDRESSES NEW PERCUTANEOUS PLACEMENT OF AVF WITH NEW AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGY. ASDIN HAS BEGUN TO DEVELOP NEW CERTIFICATION IN POCUS AND DIALYSIS ACCESS ULTRASOUND.
ASDIN CONTINUED TO FURTHER ITS MISSION TO PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN DIALYSIS ACCESS CARE TO IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR PATIENTS WITH KIDNEY DISEASE WITH SPECIFIC FOCUS ON THE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON PATIENT CARE. ASDIN CONTINUED TO PROMOTE MAINTAINING LIFELINES, THE PUBLICATION USED TO GUIDE POLICYMAKERS AND THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY AT LARGE THAT DIALYSIS ACCESS PROCEDURES WERE ESSENTIAL SERVICES THAT SHOULD NOT BE PAUSED DURING PANDEMIC RESPONSE. THE COVID 19 TASK FORCE PUBLISHED THE MEMBER EXPERIENCES WITH PANDEMIC RESPONSES, ONE OF THE FIRST ONES ON THE TOPIC OF PANDEMIC AND DIALYSIS ACCESS.
