MEMPHIS ATHLETIC MINISTRIES, INC. PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND MENTORING TO AT-RISK YOUTH, AGES 8-18, IN UNDER-RESOURCED NEIGHBORHOODS THROUGH 8 YOUTH CENTERS THAT CURRENTLY SERVE OVER 700 YOUTH DAILY. MAM'S PROGRAMS- OPEN RECREATION, ORGANIZED TEAM SPORTS, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, FINANCIAL LITERACY/PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, LIFE SKILLS AND SPIRITUAL TRAINING- ADDRESS THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS OF THE SERVED YOUTH. MAM, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FAMILIES/SCHOOLS/COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, IMPLEMENTS A THREE STEP STRATEGY TO TEACH THE YOUTH TO LOVE GOD, OTHERS AND THEMSELVES: 1) ATTRACT PARTICIPATION USING ORGANIZED SPORTS2) CREATE A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT THROUGH SMALL MENTORING GROUPS 3) PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMSMAM'S PROGRAM RESULTS HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED- 98% OF ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS AND 95% OF PARTICIPANTS' PARENTS REPORTED POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THE YOUTH AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN MAM'S PROGRAMS.
