YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM, AND DIGNITY FOR ALL.

YWCA KEYS OF HOPE (KOH) WOMEN'S PROGRAM ASSISTS WOMEN IN ACHIEVING PERMANENT, INDEPENDENT LIVING SITUATIONS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM TO 58 ADULT WOMEN AT A TIME THAT INCLUDES A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS. KOH SERVES WOMEN IN KNOXVILLE WHO ARE HOMELESS, AT RISK OF HOMLESSNESS AND WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED HOMELESSNESS DUE TO FINANCIAL INSTABILITY, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, MENTAL ILLNESS, DISABILITY, ADDICTION, PREVIOUS INCARCERATION, AND OTHER LIFE-LONG OBSTACLES.


YWCA'S VICTIM ADVOCACY PROGRAM (VAP) IS A COMMUNITY-BASED NON-SHELTER PROGRAM. VICTIM ADVOCATES ASSIST WITH ORDERS OF PROTECTION, ACCOMPANY VICTIMS TO COURT, CONDUCT DANGER ASSESSMENTS, DEVELOP SAFETY PLANS, LEAD SUPPORT GROUPS, AND PROVIDE REFERRALS TO OTHER LOCAL SERVICES AS NEEDED. SERVICES ARE ACCESSIBLE IN BOTH CRIMINAL AND CIVIL COURTS AND OFFERED BY BILINGUAL/BICULTURAL ADVOCATES WHO SPEAK SPANISH, ENGLISH, ARABIC, AND FRENCH.


YWCA'S PHYLLIS WHEATLEY CENTER PROVIDES YOUTH WITH THE TOOLS NECESSARY TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES AND TO SUCCEED IN SCHOOL AND BEYOND THROUGH THE AFTERSHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM AND SUMMER KIDS IN PLAY PROGRAM. PWC HAS BEEN A TRUSTED COMMUNITY CENTER SERVING EAST KNOXVILLE SINCE 1920.
