THE GLOBAL BIOLOGICAL STANDARDS INSTITUTE LLC ("GBSI") WAS DEDICATED TO ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH BY ADVOCATING BEST PRACTICES AND STANDARDS TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSLATION OF RESEARCH BREAKTHROUGHS INTO LIFE-SAVING THERAPIES. GBSI PROVIDED A GLOBAL, INDEPENDENT FORUM FOR GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY, ACADEMIA, AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND USE OF BEST PRACTICES AND STANDARDS THROUGHOUT THE RESEARCH PROCESS. GBSI SUPPORTS THE BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH COMMUNITY THROUGH FOUR PRIMARY CHANNELS: (1) INFLUENCING POLICY: SERVING AS INTERMEDIARIES BETWEEN FUNDING AGENCIES, ACADEMIA, AND INDUSTRY TO COLLABORATIVELY SOLVE PROBLEMS AND SHAPE POLICY; (2) CONVENING SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITIES OF INFLUENCE AND IMPACT: ASSEMBLING WORK GROUPS AND TASK FORCES TO GENERATE PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO THE MOST VEXING CHALLENGES TO RESEARCH INTEGRITY; (3) DEVELOPING WORLD-CLASS PROGRAMMING AND EDUCATION: CURRICULA AND TRAINING PROGRAMS COMBINING COMMUNITY BEST PRACTICES WITH CUTTING-EDGE METHODS; AND (4) SPONSORING AND PUBLISHING APPLIED RESEARCH: CONDUCTING BENCH MARKING STUDIES AND AGGREGATING BEST PRACTICES TO INFORM AND ENRICH THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE AND THE RESEARCH THEY CONDUCT.
